I dont think it sounds horrid. Me and DH plan on going on Saturday. We technically don't need anymore, but if its bargains, and helps woolies out just a little, then its well worth it. :cheesy:
Look after the pennies, and the pounds will look after themselves!!
  • I worked for woolies as a Xmas temp years ago...I loved it apart from dealing with Joe Public when working on the tills....I admire them, as they have to put up with loads of abuse....I found them a good company to work for and were fair to their staff.
I hope they all find jobs soon.....

Great post ....I made some good savings today e.g £3.60 for 3 x cadburys advent calenders
Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D

Does anyone know if Woolies sells baking sheets (there's an example below)? And how much are they? I can get some at Poundland, but if the are also just a pound at Woolies, plus 20% off, I need to look there. I've got so much to do to prepare for having several dinner guests Saturday that I don't know if I'll have time to check both woolies and poundland (and get groceries and cook and clean the house, lol).

News tonight said that Woolies would be staying open over xmas :-)

I got a bargain today, was soooooooo pleased. A BT synergie 4100 single phone for just £1.60, £2 with 20% offm till automatically took it off, no voucher needed!! My old cordless was just about knackered and I went in hoping for a decent bargain with 20% off, couldnt believe it when I saw these - Still £39.99 in BT.

Is worth taking a look in woolies and having for future use!!!

Even better, I just slipped my sim into it and it copied all my numbers - how handy is that!!

so now i dont know whether to go in tomorrow or wait till nearly xmas
presumably they wont be restocking shelves at all now
ive finished my xmas shopping so would only be going in bargain hunting
  • Does anybody know how Woolies is going to deal with this:
I want to return something, but managed to loose the receipt in the chaos that is my Christmas shopping. Normally, I assume, they'd give me vouchers, which would be ok, as I will need to get some more bits, but under current unfortunate circumstances, I'm not sure. I can show a print out of my bank statement as proof of purchase by the way, any ideas on the matter?
I know I'm being a bit selfish worrying about this when the employees face such uncertainty, but I suspect the lost receipt problem might affect others too.
  • It's really sad :( always shopped in Woolies.

I got my little cousins a Woolies voucher each for Christmas so they could choose something themselves and as I have to post it problem solved. I feel awful now so will go and see if I can get them a present each with the vouchers at least I might be able to get bargains.
  • Im really sad about woolies, I have fond memories of working there as a saturday girl when I was at school. I was in charge of the pick and mix, my OH says their profits never recovered from this time!! I didnt eat ALL the pick and mix honest!!!!
No really its awful for all of the employees,as some have worked there for years and years and at the time I was there it was a family type working enviroment, really nice.
I did hear from the financial side, though about a month ago that Sir Alan sugar was looking into buying the business from Kingfisher group, who currently own it,it would be nice if it could be rescued.
