  • i placed an order online last Sunday, thought i had no chance of seeing it after various rumours that popped up yesterday, but i've had an email this morning saying 'order despatched'.

all depends on timing i suppose & i'm still not 100% if i will get it or not.

obviously, this pales into complete insignificance against all the staff affected...terrble news.
  • Yep, they're open tomorrow apparently. Just spend those vouchers ASAP!

I went into Woolies in Fareham today, not many bargains to be had and I didn't really need anything. DD got herself some party shoes and a few other bits we actually did need and got the 20% off.

Hubby printed about 10 vouchers so I handed all my other vouchers out in the queue and people were really gratefull so nice to be able to put a smile on people's faces with a piece of paper as such.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
very sad to hear they might be closing as soon as this week, both me and my sister worked for them in the past. A lot of people losing there jobs so close to Christmas is going to be hard, especially in areas like ours where there are 4 branches in the city.

Even before the credit crunch there were 2 people for every available vacancy in the area, compared with most places nationally having 1 vacancy per person (obviously not all the right jobs for the right people sadly).
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

That was nice of you - mind you I don't suppose the vouchers will be any good after today's sad news.
  • Hope I'm wrong but those vouchers might not be honoured as some types are basically a credit note that woolies pass to the voucher company. Now if the voucher company is owed money by woolies:confused: they aint gonna be too quick to honour any more bits of paper.............

  • I've just checked on my online order (Wall E DVD) and it says it's "ready for despatch". I'm keeping my fingers crossed now that I receive it

    I've been Money Tipped!
;) I think woolies staff should make everyones christmas by giving away the stuff tomorrow and get their relatives to all hit the store too.

By the sound of things most of them are going to find out about losing their jobs by watching Sky News tonight.

That's why I bought what I knew I wanted as soon as I could. Was given a new voucher today saying its been extended to 30th November too.

I was thinking this! Hope my Wooloworths staff aren't feeling loyal tomorrow and give everything away! They'll need to stash a lot for themselves I expect what with their Christmas just taking a blow
