    I reckon BHS
BHS is owned by Arcadia (who owns Top Shop, Top Man, Burtons, Dorothy Perkins and a few others) - I can't see it going anywhere soon.

sb44 - MFI was bought out by Magnet and should keep trading albeit with a smaller amount of stores (if I remember right - I could be wrong)
And Woolworths is still in talks according to BBC - shares have been suspended, but that is often normal when a company is involved in takeover talks.
  • are they still selling toy instore as they are not on their website????

Yes, toys are still being sold instore.
They've removed them from the website in a process of reducing the amount of items they sell online.

I think someone posted a link to a news site on page 7 which explained it if you want to read a bit more about it :)
  • thanks jonifen. will have a look

  • Gona miss woolies if it totally closes down, I find it a very handy shop, however I am enjoying the deals I'm getting at the mo.

Picked up a paint your own breakfast set for a stocking filler reduced to 2.50p, noticed it was 3for2 so knowing my mom wanted similar gave her a ring & grabbed paint your own mug & bowl 2.00p & dinner plate £1.50p (free with 342)

Then I spotted a double faux fur throw, reduced from £50 to £25, so worked out £20 with discount voucher. Got to till, went through at £15, then 20% discount £12!!! in total was charged £15.80

I went in again this morning and picked up some large tubes of Smarties, fruit pastilles and Choc buttons today, £1.50 each or 3 for £3 - 20% got them for 80p each!!! There was also some rummage boxes of Crayona stampers and various other crafty things for mostly 50p and £1.00 - 20% make great stocking fillers!!! Gave a voucher to another lady that had an armful of stuff!!!

    Hope they don't close...

Out of curiosity... do you have anything to back this up?
Woolworths' suppliers had their credit insurance removed, so they just require payment quicker... this is as per Retail Week @ http://www.retail-week.com/NonChannelContent/2008/10/last_of_credit_insurers_withdraws_cover_from_woolies.html

One of my relatives is an area manager, another relative work for a company who supplies them..... they are on credit block because they haven't paid bills!!
