  • I love my GHD's, but I'm addicted to them, which is not good for my hair! Lots of breakages, my hairdresser tries to convince me to only straighten my hair once or twice a week, but I just can't do it

I would die if I did not have my GHDs...and I would not be able to leave the house if I didn't use them (almost) every day. My hair isn't that long - I only have the mini ones.

I have indeed. It doesn't include rent but does include utility bills...I have been a frugal homosexual this year - all those rent boys were costing me a fortune.

  • afternoon all.

To join the straighteners debate, I bought a cheap babyliss pair when they first became really 'in' and I think have used them twice. I don't suit straight hair at all - I look like a first round x-factor reject - you know, the kind that then often appears on the finals show in the 'weirdo' song bit? They do nothing for me at all! :rotfl:

Need to do some teaching admin this afternoon and send that into myself at work to print off and copy tomorrow morning.

A notice went out to tutors asking if anyone wanted to be an exam invigilator as and when they are needed, so I've put my name down and will be shown what to do when I'm needed. Pants hourly rate (£8.20) but might as well if it's a Monday morning or something for a few extra quid here and there.

They also have extra wide ones for if you've got loads of hair...

    Afternoon BB.

Are you enjoying the teaching as much as you thought now you've been going it for a while? You sound like you've got the knack of organising it all that's for sure:T

I used to have a similar problem but the curls from my GHDs last much better than from traditional tongs or rollers (and without being gluedin place:p ) and when they do start to drop out they look quite funky - kind of surfer chick Hubbles reckons so you might want to give it a shot if you particularly fancy curls;)

Am I right in thining you're going to be enjoying mulled wine etc while wandering around a Xmas market for your hols?

That sounds nice, it would be good to have something a bit different from dead straight all the time - hairdresser near me does straightening/ curling etc for nights out for a tenner I think so I might pop down and try it out sometime.

Yep - am off to France on Monday - weather forecast at the moment there is for snow, very Christmassy!

Just don't panic when it looks like rag doll ringlets to start with - they pull it all through at the end to get lovely tumbling curls;)

I'm doing a Xmas market in Ludlow next weekend with my Mum and Dad. It's not as glamourous as jetting offto France but it is a traditional medieval fair with people dressed up in costume so should be fun. I may even indulge in a medicinal mulled wine as I'll be out from under Hubbles' beady eye...

yes, I am enjoying it, particularly the cookery classes. I've decided I prefer doing a longer course rather than 1 off courses as I'm getting to know the group and it's really nice. The only downside (on the night cookery ones) is that I finish at 9, get away at 9.10, home for 9.30, then shower, wash and dry hair as I stink of the food (8 people all doing curry  for example!) and it's 10 by the time I get to eat.

Not sure saying I'd do a Monday and a Tuesday night next term was wise as it means doing it twice a week but hey ho.

It has got into a nice rhythm with a bit of admin - doing methods and equipment lists for the following weeks handouts.

I have a 4 hour course on presentation skills to do next month as well which needs preparing. I might be a bit apprehensive about that as it's new, but the telephone technique one I did on Monday went well so hopefully that will do as well.
