I went to university with a pretty senior BNP chap. Clueless idiot that he was but a couple of points:

    1. If you ban people from holding certain jobs for being a member of the BNP then what next? What about if they ban libertarians (like me)? Or Socialists? Or Jews?
    2. With groups like the BNP, my experience is that it's better to let them condemn themsleves with their own mouths. They talk rubbish and pretty much everyone knows it. They've never had seat in Parliament and they find it tough to hold council seats I believe because as soon as they get in they are shown to be full of poo.
sorry to keep this going but I couldn't agree more.

a few months ago I posted about the disgraceful decision of Ox.Uni to cancel a debate that involved the presence of irving/griffin. this action amounted to cowardice on the part of the uni authorities.

this was a great opportunity for the bnp to tell us all just what a bunch of hate-filled cranks they really are.

it should be easy to trash their arguments, so why 'martyr' them?

When I was at Oxford, I helped to prevent such a meeting with David Irving. The Oxford Union has a long record of trying to invite Irving to speak, and also the late John Tyndall - it is a popular publicity stunt for the thicker Union presidents. The issue at stake there is not whether Irving should be able to maintain his discredited views, but whether it is worthwhile to do so AT THE OXFORD UNION. There are plenty of nutters with ridiculous views out there, and the Union has no requirement to allow them to be aired. This has no effect on their right to free speech, but is simply an editoral issue for that one organisation. The view you mention is rather naive. In reality, the BNP are keen to use institutions like the Union to gain credibilty. The reporting of the event would mention they went to the Oxford Union, and the trashing of their arguments would not escape the debating hall. The members of the Union have a veto on Union invitees, and the democratic will of the Union members was to veto it. End of.

Actually Nick Griffin was convicted of holocaust denial in this country - even though it's not officially a crime. They got him on 'incitement to racial hatred'.

I don't think it was just holocaust denial at all.

The following day, Miss Wass put the Crown's case that The Rune constituted "written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting" with intent to stir up racial hatred, or that "having regard to all the circumstances, racial hatred is likely to be stirred up".

She drew attention to the front cover, which displayed a drawing of a large white hangman's noose with the words "What has a rope got to do with WHITE UNITY?" (4) on a black background. The editorial to which the cover referred called for the unification of all "white nationalist" organisations into a single body with the purpose of achieving "final victory over those who wish to destroy us so that they can rule forever over a mass of mongrel slaves." Then "payback time" would come, and "we can put the rope to capital work".

Miss Wass argued that the picture of the noose and the editorial were "the clearest possible call to arms to white supremacists" and that the whole magazine had a "blatant racist message". She read extracts from an article which called on readers to evoke "the spirit of the Northmen" and "unsheath the sword of war", another which reported the killing of a white policeman by a West Indian murderer, with photographs, and another which requested video footage of a white man being attacked by a group of blacks in South Africa.

She said that an article entitled "Inconvenient facts", which claimed that Jews held positions in the media and Hollywood vastly disproportionate to their numbers, would lead to resentment against Jews.

She pointed to a cartoon in which some hens with what she called "Jewish noses" were saying things like "Hens are special" and "Hens are chosen". The cartoon's caption referred to "greedy, pushy power-mad hens". She argued that this cartoon was likely to stir up racial hatred against Jews.

She briefly mentioned Holocaust revisionism by arguing that it was generally accepted that anti-semitism had ultimately led to the Holocaust, and that the magazine's denial of the Holocaust, which it called the "Holohoax", was a means of expressing its editor's anti-semitism.

The prosecution then played the tape of Mr Griffin's interview with the police while under arrest, which I summarised in an appendix to my earlier paper. When the police were searching his home, Mr Griffin had taken a telephone call and had said that "They're very civilised, not like the Met at all. No Pakis or Jews."

...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

I Have Here A Programme On My Computer Every Address Name And Phone Number Of Most Of The Uk And More Info.. So Why Are People Bothered About This List Unless They Are Trying To Hide The Fact That They Belong To A Fascist Party..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • My parents next door neighbour is on the list. Suprised there aren't more from my town on it to be honest, as the BNP got voted onto the council in the local elections

  • For some employment it would not matter if an employee sympathised with a particular 'ploitical' view. For some other employment it matters a lot.

A policeman, for example, should be sacked if they support the BNP. On the other hand, a binman should not. And if they can sack the b*****d who gave me a speeding ticket (at 35 mph) 8 yerars ago, all well and good. Karma.

Its a good point, but communism has been just as bad if not worse history tells us ..But to be fair have you ever heard of Theo van Gogh or Pim Fortuyn ? Wikipedia them, & would you really like your address on the net & your Political affiliation noted ? ... Sadly if any members of this Party were Murdured as a consequence of this list being public, I get the impression some of the posters here (Several of whom dont appear to have posted on the house prices forum befor) would be quite happy if they were ... I find that very sad  ....

I rechecked the list. We don't really have neighbours, but I wanted to check the staff. Most of them are clean but our head gamekeeper ('Jumping' Jack Mosley) gets a mention. I don't think it matters much - down here on the country estate we tend to regard the BNP as a bit left wing. Must dash - need to supervise the trap setting - damn ramblers have been pushing their luck again.
