  • Also still waiting since before christmas. They returned my payslip and utility bill with just a blank compliments slip. I waited another week and now I've got a letter telling me they don't have my signature on file and that I need to go into a branch with yet another piece of ID - to set up my security!

A branch, hmm there is one in the town where I live but I never go into town there and anyway its only open when I'm at work or on Saturday when I go elsewhere. There is one in the town where I work but I don't get into the High Street until after work, rarely before 5pm. There is not one in the town where I go on Saturdays - like most banks they closed up years ago.

I applied for and got a Mint card in 2 weeks flat after applying for this one - running at 6 weeks so far!

They don't need the signature to supply the card. When I went to collect my 2nd card (1st lost in post and they'd only give me a 2nd if I collected it) I was able to supply said signature at the same time - one wasn't dependant on the other, I was just able to deal with both at the same time.

  • I've just read this a little too late, applied for a card yesterday to BT just under £4000. Fingers crossed I'll be one of the lucky few who have an ok time from them!

    misses applied early last month...
got letter last week to ask her to ring them, an 0870 number, we did the saynoto0870 alternatives, over 1 hour speaking to 7 differnt peopl...

    pap

she eventually was offered 2.5k after asking for 9.9k with no appeal so it seems, accepted in no bt fees, still waiting for it to show up in egg money....

will update when credit agreement lands, thought it strange they would do a bt without us signing it first??

    maybe we might forget....

    where would we stand

I'm still waiting for this card to be issued. Haven't bothered to phone them because of what I've read on this forum.
Had one of the poorest customer service experiences I've ever experienced with one of their UK based CS reps, this evening.

Kept on hold for an interminable length of time only to be told "Card services is closed now, you'll have to call them tomorrow between 9 and 5. Do you want the number?
I don't get my kicks haranguing these folks working for this mob, so I accepted his perfunctory reply, and decided I'm happy to be stoozing this lot.

I honestly can't remember when I applied for this Card, and seem to think that the Buncefield Oil terminal fire was used as an excuse by this sorry crowd, for the difficulties that had in first processing my online application.

I'll just hold on now and wait for it's arrival. I only want to stooze it to thumb my nose to HSBC for 9 months.

i went into the branch to apply for a cc however i have a student account with them and although i specifically said that i didnt want the cc linked to the student account -( bearing in mind i do have other cc and a business acc elsewhere)- all they could do was offer me a £500 limit and not even at 0% - it was around 18% for it and linked to the student account. - so i bascially has a credit search done for nothing. all this i believe could have been avoided if the staff knew in advance that i wouldnt be able to get the cc because i had a student account! so the student cc has a 18% apr....very responsible lending!
    anyway rant over
    sorry! :o

  • these guys are deffo very very bad for customer services, perhaps on par with Powergen even, anyway I applied aeons ago and received the same letter asking to call them regarding the application, which I did, only to be sent the same letter again a fortnight later, so I rang them again - sounded like some Indian call centre. Hopeless. Surely nobody would bank with these cretins other than to get a stooze? :D

I've always had a hard time getting accepted for a credit card as I am a homemaker. When I applied for a current account 2 days ago, they asked me if I wanted a credit card as I was pre approved for £3000. Of course, I said YES!

The same day, my account was set up. I can transfer balances via internet banking.

HSBC Canary Wharf is where I went to.

Applied 2 weeks ago and heared nowt back, so called them tonight, they said they can't tell me over the phone but I could go into my local branch which, living in Scotland there is ONE she says and IF I've been accepted I can sign the forms there and then. And if I haven't? Well it's a wasted trip of course silly me. She cant even tell me, and after checking with a supervisor says there is no way at all for me to find out over the phone and will need to wait on the letter! Well did you at least receive my application OK then? Sorry we can't look into it or give you that info either, wait for the letter. If the letter gets lost? Give it 3-4 weeks then call back Sir.

    Pathetic!
