HSBC 0% balance transfer - pathetic credit limit offered

Options
Just got a letter from them asking us to ring them re our application, we wanted to transfer 2 cards with a total of £8,500 on them and they wanted to give us a credit limit of £500!!!!
When asked to explain they said that they give you a low limit if you have either moved house - which we have a year ago or have balance transferred recently which we have 9 months ago.

So that was a waste of time.
Be interested to hear how others get on.

Oh and they kept us on hold for 10 minutes before they answered!!!

In my case I was asked to ring and was then told that my application would be accepted but they would give me a limit of £3200 (I asked for a bt to another card of £6500). They then asked if I would like the whole limit transfered to which I replied yes.
£3200 is better than the refusal which I half expected.

Wishing you all a happy and prosperous New Year,

    John

Got a letter from HSBC with pre-printed application form saying I could now apply until the 25th (or there abouts - thanks for pointing out it wasn't the 35tth) Feb - only about a week after I got the car dhaving applied just before the previous deadline.
    I think....

I was also kept on hold for 10mins on 0870 number after I was asked to call them. I searched 'Say No to 0870' for an alternative first, but the woman who answered the freephone number (within 2 rings unsurprisingly!) couldn't help.

My £4800 balance transfer request couldn't be actioned because they only gave me a £3000 limit, so I told them to proceed with a £3000 transfer.
  • hsbc seem well known for giving very low limits & for people having to wait ages to get through to an advisor- - there are lots of threads on various discussion groups about it.
  • I HAVE 3 DEFAULTS AND WAS GIVEN A £1750 LIMIT WITH THE 6 MONTH DEAL (NO FEE) :xmastree:

  • Being an experienced 'card tart' HSBC was the only one I have not used and I can definitely say it has been the most troublesome. After original application and 2 week delay I was asked to supply my pay slip and utility bill (this is a new experience). After another 2 weeks delay I contacted them (37 minutes on 0870 number) to see what the delay was. Card arrived 2 days later. Time to do the BT. 10 days later the funds had not moved, another 2 calls to some call center on other side of planet I was advised to give a security number to speed up the process instead of 20 questions. Still no funds transfered so one last call. I was told that something in my security details did not match and they were unable to continue communicating with me on the phone and I would be sent a form through the post.
I have now cut up my unused HSBC card.
Just when I'm about to make ends meet, somebody moves the ends
