My own experiences on trying to apply for this card are running on a par with those of my application for ICICI. Unable to contact them in a timely fashion (30 mins on 0870 listening to Greensleeves, or whatever it was, is unacceptable), takes ages to deal with them by post (2 weeks before I get the demand for payslip(s) and proof of address(!)) - now have PIN, but no card - spent another 1/2 hr last night cancelling that one, ordering a new one - to be collected from a branch in '7-10 'working' days' - does this include Saturdays? That's the only day I can collect it.

And to top it all, I can't even BT the £1,500 (A measily 10% of the amount I'd asked to BT on application) until I actually receive the card.

    Pants.

  • I too asked for just over 6k on the BT and got a letter asking me to call. I held for ages on the rip off 0870 number to be told I was only being offered £3750 and I said OK.

Today I got the agreement through and it asked for a recent payslip and a utility bill. Well being a smart money saver and keen on protecting the environment I have online billing for gas, electric, phone, (good little bit off the bill on each for online billing). Water and council tax are annual bills and due sometime end of Jan/Feb I think so too far out of date to use so I had to phone them again on the 0870 number to ask about the bill. Turns out my annual TV license "statement" (I pay by DD) which fortunately came in December is OK.

    What a Palava.
The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j

  • I Rang them today... after being put through to the right person (had a couple of Questions) took about 10mins..and got a £2500 limit over the phone, which aint bad as i am disabled and dont work.. they said form in the post to sign..soon as they get that they will be in-touch about the BT.. but also said that there was a back log so 2-3 weeks..!!

if they have ok`ed you then you should`nt realy have to send any other id too them...as they credit check you...

    You were given poor information.

Once logged into your HSBC credit card account online, you can order up a DD mandate which they will post to you. The completed mandate should then be sent to their head office for processing.

    thanks for that.

I didnt believe her for a minute, but thought she might manage to ask someone and send me the correct form in the post.

I cant remember seeing a section on the application form to allow you to use your CC online, do you have to ring and request this set-up? .... I dread to think how difficult this will turn out to be from their past performance...

Do they always ask for a payslip and utility bill to be sent to them? It does seem like a lot of messing about.
Don't know about 'always' but there have been quite a few people (including myself) who have expressed surprise that they are asking for it - they are certainly the first company that have asked me for it recently.

It was straight forward, but then again I had completed my application in branch so already had my security number. The registration details are here...

Applied 12/12/05 on-line, received approval application forms to sign 20/12/05, signed and returned 21/12/05 (along with payslip, adress confirmation etc - what's that all about?), now still waiting. OK, Xmas holidays were at this time so things maybe a little slow, but if I've not heard anything by the 12th Jan (one month from application) I'll cancel. I'm sure their wasted time will cost them more than mine. I'll just go elsewhere as I have a little time to play with.

If I do hear prior to the 12th and the credit limit isn't satisfactory (sounds like it might not be going by other posts) I'll still go elsewhere ! They might get the message, then again they probably won't. High St Banks, aren't they wonderful !!!! ;)

To keep you on hold for 32 minutes is ridiculous!
How do you think they finance all those cheap balance transfer deals? :D
