My DD once asked me if she could have a play-station when she turned into a boy. Has saved me a fortune that one. :rotfl:

and DS asked when taken to a petting farm for the first time and seeing as the first animal a talking parrot then asked me if the next animal he saw - a horse- could talk too. :D

For tea we have had chinese spare ribs and chicken thighs which were in a Thai marinade- both picked up on oops some weeks ago when we were entertaining and not used. That with jacket potatoes and HM coleslaw cos DH bought another cabbage not checking we already had 1/2 left (grrrrrr it does annoy me when he does that). and for the first time in weeks, we have leftovers and the family hasn't announced they are hungry the minute they've left the table.

Called round my parents to give dad his father's day card and left with a load of nibbles from parent's buffet tea.:j

My sympathies, I have plantar fasciitis and I know how it can hurt. It's basically inflammation so treat it gently (hope that's not falling fould of the no medical advice rule). The best thing I did was to buy some gel heel and arch supports from the foot health counter in Boots

Smiley, my son has this and he spends a lot of time in absolute agony. He's a security guard and works 12 hour shifts, says he can hardly walk the ten minutes home after his shift. He gets painful steroid injections into his heels.

OOh smileyt how painful and frustrating, are you managing to brew up and raid the biscuit tin? Aw well just read through the site from A to B then you will be better, should keep you busy

Thanks ladies. I have some stretches to do - basically you stand on the edge of a step on the balls of your feet and let your heels drop down. This stretches tight calf muscles which is the cause of plantar fasciitis but ooh it doesn't half hurt! I'm hoping that these coupled with not walking five or six miles every day with the dogs for a couple of days will help the inflammation ease.

Maryb, I have arch supports, might look at the heel ones, thank you for the suggestion. Mardatha - could your son not get a bike so he can cycle home? He could try freecycle/freegle. Ginnyknit - it would take a lot more than plantar-whatsitis to stop me getting to the kettle - I'd crawl on my hands and knees if necessary :rotfl:As for biscuits - I can't have them in the house because they just jump into my mouth of their own accord, the blighters .... I am helpless to resist ....

He has a motorbike but he works just up the road and it isnt worth the hassle of taking it out of the shed, getting padlocks off etc. He lives in Edinburgh. He had loads of insoles too, some work and some dont. But my OH also had it - and it just went away and never came back, so think positive pink vibes :D

lauren_1 I am fast becoming an expert on baby stuff due to Dd, Dgs and sil living with us. A big tin of SMa is 7 pounds, 3 packs of wipes 2.00 and nappies well we use tesco's own which are pretty good and 2 packs of 36 are 7.00 at the mo. Luckily we didnt have to buy anything but the pram as all her friends have passed stuff on except the pram. Jen is now the Robin Hood of baby gear and passes round what doesnt fit or is girly to all the others! Everthing else has come from the pound shops or has been made by me, my ingenuity knows no bounds:) and my stash of stuff is huge, although my wool stocks are very low now. Trouble is she puts pics on facebook and someone always asks me to make them things but I don't mind really.

Hi, I know there has been a lot of comments about the prices going up in the supermarket, well I went shopping on Thursday in Morrisons and they too have increased their prices. the majority of what I buy is already from the value range and this is the range that appears to be increasing the most. I used to give myself a weekly budget for food, dog food, toiletries and cleaning products (although I didnt necessarily buy those every week) of £40-£45, but I am now going to have to increase it to at least £50 per week if not more. Tomorrow is going to be interesting with the budget, more cutting back for many of us I fear

Are they? Caffeine (and salt) affect calcium metabolism which is important to muscles: I find too much tea and coffee give me awful muscle cramps. I would try cutting down caffeine and salt and eating tahini every day (loads of calcium and magnesium). Houmous and halva all the way, no hardship!

    Just thinkin' out loud.

I've been reading in today's paper that the price of tinned tomatoes is set to rocket because of shortages. Apparently last year's cold wet winter led to three million fewer tomatoes being grown for processing this year. Also last year's record harvest caused a 15% drop in wholesale prices and has deterred many Italian farmers from growing them again this year. (Most tinned tomatoes come from Italy). The rising price of steel needed for the tins will also be contributing to the price rise. Heavy tinned tomato users may want to start stocking up now. and users of other tinned goods can also expect to see price rises soon.

Thanks for the tip off, Primrose, tinned tomatoes are a permanent resident in my store cupboard - I have noticed the price of them creep up over the past year or so, particularly the value/basics brands. Perhaps we all ought to try and grow as many tomato plants as possible and hopefully have a glut of tomatoes to turn into sauce for the freezer!

Oh no! We live off of tomatos! and passata.

For those who have not thought about applying for a allotment, maybe its about time you enquired, or even thinking about a veg patch.

Just another thought, those JML upside down tomato plants( or a HM version of it) you use a old rotory washing line?
