Isnt this weather awful ? We often get snow in march/April up here but not usually a FOOT of it ! Our lambing is in full spate so please all spare a thought for the worn-out shepherds and the poor wee lambs0

Mardartha we have snow as well - was looking at the wee calfs knee deep this morning - hoping their mum's are well fed. It's been a pretty but hard winter hasn't it?0

There was snow here yesterday and flurries of it today but mercifully it hasn't lain. My heart goes out to everyone involved in agriculture over the last 12 months as the weather has been from one extreme to the other. Looks as though that is the way things are going to be from now on.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Blimey you lot are getting really bad weather, hope we dont get it here, am saving loads by not using heating or dryer etc, got washing drying on the line again today!!
Hope it clears for you all soon, poor lambs and their mummies too!0 -
we have horizontal snow and the wind is howling in the chimney. I feel like Scott of the Antartic :rotfl: Thank god for a coal fire LOL!

I would cry, its been such a relief to turn the heating off, I have watched my bills drop before my eyes, but I am still looking at a major deficit that will need to be cleared at next bill, so the idea f having to use the heating again would make me weep.0 -
We're not having snow, but it's due here tomorrow apparently
The weather's turned horrid again, I suppose that's the "March comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lion" [or vice versa] saying proved right again. It's cold and rainy and windy - but still not complaining [too much!] as no snow. Oddly enough, quite often it feels warmer when it snows than when it's hammering down in a gale.
My range hasn't gone out yet, I'm thinking I've got another month or so before I'm having to use electricity to cook with, and the main stove is having to be lit early mornings instead of late afternoons - hoping for warmer weather soon.
Money saving achievement of the day? I had two lovely [reduced to 10p for four] mini tomato & herb baguettes plus the end of a loaf [reduced to 15p] and didn't want to throw them away but my teeth really weren't up to eating them, so I cut them, buttered them on both sides, laid them up alternately in a casserole with grated cheese, beat up 2 eggs and a lot of milk, poured this over them and bunged in the oven [on low] for about an hour. It came out like a cheese souffle and there was enough for 4 of us! Must remember to do this again. Hope that helps.
[yes, I'm a lurker and v occasionally post. Thank you to everyone for their [unwitting] support and bright ideas]If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
[ quote from kidkat - Pagan girl maybe you need to buy one of those bubble things to roam about in!! ] - great idea - would keep me dry too !
Well today has been mixed weatherwise - thankfully, no snow but lots of rain, hailstones, thunder & lightning - wondering what's gonna be next. Feel sorry for anyone snowed up again - arrrrgh just switched heating off last week - will need it on again tonight ! Must be a nightmare for farmers with all the young animals. Shivering at the thought of Mardatha's horizontal snow - oooh errr
Ddraidgoch - that recipe sounds yummy - will give it a go - thanks for that. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

yes it's snowing heavily here - we're cosy inside as the stove stays in 24/7. I'm in shock - paid £1.81 in the co-op for a loaf of brown bread - eek!! back to home-made I think0

DdraigGoch before we had a family member who can't eat eggs I used to make something similar where the bread and cheese was layered up with a handful of lentils and some coleslaw - really lovely!0
