You know what? Some good may have just come out of this situation, if nothing else it has made me sit up and realise how slack I've let things get:o I've done the panic bit, can't undo whats done, so need to get on with things...

Hi icemaiden, a similar thing happened to me six years ago (cannot believe it was that long) - husband left after 20 odd years - I let things slide for a long while and now my children are grown i really wish i'd gotten my act together much sooner!! good luck this year, hope it goes well with you and you find some peace

Belated Happy new year to everyone, been having computer problems so struggling to keep up with all thats been going on.

Nice to see you back sammyK :)

Icemaiden- you are right, good things can come out of bad situations, its just about how you choose to handle it, you sound like you are going to do just fine. It may be hard but I always feel prouder of my small achievements because I have worked for them.

Mummysaver - sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to know you are all ok.

Weather is very cold here at the moment but no snow again yet, I am worried about my two eldest, they attend a high school and are not allowed coats, hats or gloves once on school premises which means they are going to be freezing moving about all the different buildings and for registration - they are lined up outside for ten minutes before going inside. Seems a bit hypocritical especially as they are constantly complaining if kids are off school sick. Not to mention that teachers are stood out in thick coats, hats, scarves etc.

I am appalled at this. I am all for discipline, but not at the risk of the children's health. Are the other parents worried? Can you band together and moan to someone in authority?

Hi Icemaiden, seems you have got through things and come out the other side, it does take time when your circumstances change to be in a position to do things differently. Glad you are being so positive and I look forward to hearing from you as you work on each small success.

Kidcat, does seem very unfair that the children are freezing like that, hope alls ok.

We are all freezing here too and trying to stay focused on pennypinching. Hoping we have all the bills under control for the New Year and will have no shocks. managed to get one cold weather payment (DH on disability) but really need it as due to his meds he really feels the cold. Am really proud of my pregnant DD as her and all her friends are swopping and borrowing baby equipement so she has everything except the buggy. Her other half has just left to go back to his army regiment and has bought her all the clothes she needs for the next few months (in the sales of course) So I am now crochetting nice warm baby blankets and boots as fast as I can for her friends to make sure they are all snug.

    evening to you all!

I dont post on this thread often but do read, just wanted to say welcome back to sammy_kaye:j:T I always really enjoyed your posts and found them very helpful.

For those who dont know me I am currently in year 5 of an IVA - will be debt free in July:j if all goes to plan. Its down to a lot of help and support that we've had from MSE and the OS board in particular thats enabled us to get this far.
We both work full time but had got into serious debt due to DH's poor health - heart attack and bypass surgery and some bad decisions regarding our finances. Hopefully thing will get better for us after July, at least the pressure will be off.
Thanks to you all for the support and advice you give.:T

Oh, my goodness. My dear OH has just come in with the weather forecast for tonight - it's to sleet, then snow, then freeze, then more snow, then freeze again! And to snow intermittently all day tomorrow! I shall have to get my ski hat out to wear about the house if it continues like this.

I thought I saw somewhere that you could now make your own sweeties? - Do you need a "Red Cross" parcel sending?
