Has anybody else had tons and tons of snow ? We've had it every day but one for the last 10 days. He has given up clearing the road and car.
I just wanted to say a big thankyou to everybody on this site - esp the immortal Kittie - who got me started on being better prepared. I was ok before regarding supplies, but the money saving/elect saving tips I learned in here has helped us a LOT ! :) and it really helped us this winter.

we had several lots of heavy snow which came down frighteningly quickly and then the freezing temps made it very dangerous on pavements and early morning roads for several days; temps have been milder for the last 2 days though and overnight rain has cleared the last of it. BUT I was told this morning that we have colder weather next week and more snow...

mardatha, I've been thinking of you whenever I've seen the tv weather map  keep safe!

We have had heavy snow and ice for days, its been great!! Its the first heavy snow we have had in years and as the kids are all off school they have really enjoyed it, getting about has been difficult especially as our drive is very steep!! but as its school holidays, I havent really been rushing anywhere.
Kids have used their sledge and its just been nice to spend time with a very pretty garden to look out at. We have hammered the heating though so we will pay for this come heating bill.
I appeciate its been very hard for some people though.

Sorry everyone VERY VERY late with the Merry Xmas but sending it all the same and also wishing everyone a happy new year!!! We've had a rather difficult Xmas as my DM is very poorly and we are just going one day at a time, but have had a huge amount of support from DH and our DSs. I love my family too! and thank God for them and their love. Happy 2010 everyone!

Being at the opposite end of the kingdom, we are very unprepared for the amount of bad weather we've had recently. To you arp norf it would probably be no more than a hiccup but I truly cannot remember a time of having the awful conditions we're experiencing this winter.
I too echo your appreciation of this thread. Things could have been a lot worse for us financially if I hadn't started taking some of the measures I'd read on here, with regards to the heating bills alone :o
