  • Evening all,

I just wanted to pop on and say hello, i have been following this thread for a while and i had to just say thank you to everyone for sharing your stories with us.

I have found much inspiration in what i have read and it has helped me and my little family through the hardest few months of our relationship, and indeed our lives. Redundancy, ill health, and all that goes with those things have been plaguing us for over a year but i have sought comfort in reading your posts, if you know what i mean, its kind of nice to know there are others out there who can understand how hard things can be.

I am hoping and praying that 2010 will be brighter, i have secured not just one but two full time jobs (the irony! like buses they are!) and i start the one I have chosen on 4th jan. I went there today to meet the staff and practice the journey and they are the loveliest people i could hope to work with and a lovely ward (im a nurse) and im very excited about starting. I hope that things can get better from there.

However starting a f/t job is the beginning and it will still be hard, i need to carry on learning as i have a husband who is a full time dad and a nearly one year old to support and need all the advice i can find! I hope you will allow me to keep popping on here!

thank you for sharing your stories, and i hope all of you who need a bit of luck get it and things start to look up and be brighter

Thank you for reading if you got this far!
  • Thanks all, you really are all wonderful. I think the difficult thing is that because I'm away from them I haven't seen an of the problems which makes it quite difficult to accept. He's a lovely man and he's been part of my life for so long so to accept the truth is very hard. It almost feels like he's died - he is no longer the man that I though the was but I do feel so very sorry for him as well.

BMF you are entirely right, it's so difficult, when my ex and I split up I was eternally grateful that our friends remained both of our friends which made a difficult situation a little easier.

    Thanks so much everyone x

Hi slowandsteady, congratulations on finding work, I think many of us are hoping for a brighter 2010. I know I for one am of the opinion that it couldnt get much worse, but certainly there are little shoots of hope in our life atm that I truly hope will flourish into shoots of strength.

    Afternoon all!

Many thanks for the support from everyone, like others have said, it's good to know you're not alone when things don't go according to plan!

Pitlanepiglet - I'm sorry to hear your news, I hope that things work out well for them all. It just shows we never know what goes on inside someone else's four walls - since my marriage and subsequent relationship went west I've heard allsorts of tales from friends who I'd previously though were blissfully happy!

Slowandsteady - congratulations on the new job, and I'm pleased that the people are so lovely, makes any job much much nicer.

Well we are coping with no heating, amazingly the kids don't seem too worried, I was expecting real moans and groans and actually they've been brilliant about it! Ex has interviews for new jobs, so fingers crossed for him that it all works out and quickly.

Today dd2 is wrapping the remaining pressies, dd3 has gone to her friends house to make things with her pal's gran, and me and dd1 and poss dd2 are off to buy Christmas jammies, another tradition in our house, and one that everyone loves - God bless Primark!

So many people have so many horrible worries at the moment, and it has been a truly awful year for many people, so I feel blessed that my family and I have so many things to be thankful for despite not everything being quite the way I'd wish!

  • :D Happy Christmas Eve OS'ers

Got off to a shaky start this morning - had a wobble on the stiff upper lip front when putting the few presents we'd got our dd's under the tree.:o

I know that we have done the sensible thing and not spent money that we don't have but felt very stingy and mean.......

A cuddle and a cup of tea set me to rights and we have spent the day visiting and delivering our presents to friends and relatives.

Arrived home mid afternoon and just got the kettle on for a cuppa...and then it happened...

    Out of the blue....

A phone call offering dh a job! - minimum wage but full time + permanent!

Halleujah! Halleujah! The best Christmas present possible for us

Just had a few more tears but happy ones this time.
    :T :T :T

Brilliant news charlies-aunt, and just at the right time too. Congratulations, now you can relax and enjoy Christmas knowing that the job will be there for your DH.

Not sure I will be about tomorrow got unknown numbers coming for dinner (min 10 but likely more) so gonna be really busy, veg prepped, and desserts all made. But cant do any more till tomorrow now. Really pleased we have our second cooker now plugged in so will have three ovens and eight rings to play with tomorrow!
Anyway just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas - may your day be full or warmth and laughter.
  • Congratulations to those who have found new jobs, what great news, hugs to those still struggling, chin up one & all.

Charlies-aunt congratulations for your oh on his job. I mainly lurk on this thread but sometimes you just have to respond don't you?
I don't think you should feel bad about the number of presents your dd has. I remember two christmases as a child, one was when i was about nine and my grandma died so dad had to fly back to england from Germany so we had no money for lots of toys. All four kids got One present each but we did not feel deprived at all as we knew my father's being back home in england at that time was more important.
The other one that sticks in my mind is when my father sold his car and bought us loads of stuff. I was 13 then but I can only remember 1 of the presents I got. A huge beautiful paintbox.

    Charlies-aunt what fabulous news!

I was having a lovely Christmas eve and then out of the blue our boiler died! Now I have two loads of family coming over tomorrow, one for lunch and one set for dinner and I have no heating or hot water! Fingers crossed I get a jumper and snuggly slippers! Not sure how I am going to wash in the morning as I don't fancy a cold bath or shower when there is so much snow outside!

Anyway we are going to make the most of us all being together, cold or not. I hope you all have a fabulous day!

What a  but with all those folk & running around getting things sorted, you'll probably not notice the heating is off! Makes you appreciate what my parents & grandparents had to contend with...
Obviously I'm up this early to open the door for :santa2: as we have no chimney ;) Nah! Pup needed the facilities & no-one else hears the poor mite so Mum gets up :wall: Just as well cuz the last one home didn't lock the porch & there's seven pints of milk & assorted veg in there
