Hope you are getting your Asda shopping today Mardatha, you need to get all the villagers out in a line down to the main road and pass your shopping along the line from the van to your house.

Carriebradshaw, hope you are safe and sound and warm with plenty of supplies

thanks mumoftwo, we'll be fine, we've got enough food in for a good couple of weeks and we do have a couple of small shops in the village, it's just an up and downhill icy struggle at the moment to get to them, so not going out unless we absolutely have to! Haven't been out since last Wednesday, but at least I'm saving money that way :rotfl:

White out here!! Schools all closed and kids off, all been out making snow men, trouble is car due MOT today so had to drive the 8 miles to MOT station, never managed to get above second gear and a ten minute journey took over one hour!! Thankfully we passed so big sigh of relief.

I cannot remember anything like this in my life time, but kids are extremely pleased. :)

I went to the corner shop this morning, as an avid fan of Bear Grylls I followed all the rules but omg it was awful and so tiring, but Bear says deep snow is like that. Got back in urgent need of hot coffee and not in need of finding a guinea pig relaxing in the middle of the living room. Serves me right for running out of flipping loo rolls. Its amazing out there, I am 10 minutes from Manchester city centre and I honestly don't know how you guys living in the middle of no where manage.

ps the guinea is very old and needed some tlc - he was in a portable run in the house not sat on the couch!

Absolutely pelting here again, sending all my penpal pics of it 2 foot deep in the garden. Ginny, I would be scared stiff in Manchester pet ! Depends on what you're used to eh.. as long as we have plenty coal, plenty gas, and plenty food then we can sit out anything.

I'm in Moss Side, Ginnyknit, and it was bad, wasn't it? But - just think of that free, total hip-thigh-bum workout we get struggling through the snow :rotfl:I've taken my dogs out twice today and the little one is almost up to her tummy in it, bless her.

I also helped my neighbours to build a six-foot snowman, so have had plenty of exercise today. Oh, and brushed as much snow as I could off the hen pen roof before it snaps under the weight.

Smiley T we are very close to each other! And yes I did appreciate the workout but don't think I will take it up as a hobby, I was a runner until 2 years ago and miss it sooo much.

I always laugh when Im struggling which is probably really annoying but hey if life gives you lemons, phone a friend and tell them to bring the tequila.

The guinea pig is now back in winter quarters and feeling much better, the cuppa helped!

To be honest the snow scares me, always has so I make myself go out but spent half the day checking if all my family and friends were ok, they arent as organised as MSE people.

The government are probably pleased with the weather to some extent as it takes peoples minds off the recession, lets face it some people are barely surviving out there in this snow. I think myself lucky me and mine are reasonably warm and safe.

Hope everyone out there is doing ok.

We are out in High Peak and the snow is awful here. I walked down to town yesterday and it was exhausting walking in the deep snow but felt safer than last week when the pavements were sheet ice!.

Had to revive myself with a large cup of coffee and chocolate digestives when I got back.
  • well the snow is manic here (surryshire!) but with welly's i can get by

Thirzah - i used to live up that way just at the manc end of the a57(snake pass!!) is it shut yet?
