I hardly ever see reduced cream round here so either I live in a reduced cream free area or there are too many other MSE'ers round here snapping it up before me
I might buy some full priced cream actually - not very MSE but the memories will be worth every penny (not to mention that it should impress the FMIL when she visits this weekend!)DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

For those who don't have a Kenwood....
The Sunday Telegraph Magazine some weeks ago had an article by Richard Corrigan, "A better bit of butter" (sorry, there's no date on the pages I ripped out) and he suggested a Tupperware box and lid with a couple of glass marbles in to provide the agitation.
That might make it a bit easier than just shaking it.
I'm going to try it anyway!I'm not as green as I'm cabbage looking!

Sainsburys are doing cream half price at the moment.
Just bought 4 pints and made a batch of butter in my food processor.
Looks yummy!!"Finish each day And be done with it.

I tried this at school today. We had children rolling screw top jars up and down the hall with double cream in it. Luckily I got it half price. By the end of the afternoon we had this awfull smelling mess! What did we do wrong? I have thought that it may have been the muggy weather we have right now. Anybody got any ideas?True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060

just tried this today - not too convinced with the results though.......... i think perhaps i should have shook it a bit longer
ah well, guess i'll just have to experiment and practiceI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I've just had a go at this too, using my electric hand mixer. Very successful, took me about 5 minutes to produce the butter and another 5 to wash it0

Hi All
Some months ago I saw a thread with some fairly detailed instructions on how to make home made butter from double cream. I looked at the thread on butter making in the mega index, but that isn't the one I'm thinking of - it doesn't have detailed info.
I have a Bosch Concept kitchen machine which has a mixing bowl, a food processor, a liquidiser (and many other fab attachments, which cannot be relevant to butter making).
Could someone tell me how I make butter please?
Or if anyone knows and can find the thread I mean, a link would be great.
Thank you0 -
We made butter the other day, by placing some double cream in a jam jar, and shaking it!!!! After about 10 mins, it came together in a ball, and the liquid that was left (the butter milk) i used making some scones!!!0
