Double cream half price at the co-op at the moment.

Will my stick blender work or will it ruin the cream? Im tempted to have ago but shaking a jar for 20mins seems like a bit too much work for tired old me!

Oh my God shaking a jar for a few minutes is proving to much for me, now what can I get to go with well shaken cream!!

  • I think the stick blender wouldn't be able to cope when it turns to butter.

I agree, I don't think a stick blender will cope at all with it. But, it only took me approx 10 mins of shaking a jar for my cream to turn into butter so it's not too bad

i am so pleased with myself, today i made my very first batch of butter and it was sooo easy and it tastes gorgeous :D it hadnt even entered my head before that i could do it and have been happily buying full price butter from the shops but this is all going to stop as of now as i have just discovered how easy it is! :j
following the instructions from another thread on here i cant remember whose it was now but i must thank them
i had 2 pots of room temperature double cream reduced down to 10p each and i put them in a jar added a pinch of salt and shook it for about 10 minutes first of all it got thicker then it started to separate into buttermilk and butter then i had 1 big lump of butter sloshing around in the buttermilk yayyy :j i unscrewed the jar discarded the buttermilk and promply placed my newly made butter in a dish and then into the fridge ready for my homemade bread/toast in the morning, neither me or my oh could wait to taste it so we had it on hot cross buns for supper and it was lovely even if i do say so myself! :D i`d advise anyone to give it a go i guess its only worthwhile moneywise if you get the cream cheap in the first place though,i would imagine this would be great to show your kids how its made i found it very interesting, happy butter making to you all :D
proper prior planning prevents !!!!!! poor performance! :p
Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money
