Hello everyone
Thought it was time to post again. I have had a nasty chest infection so have been taking it easy recently. I went to see my doctor at the hospital today and it has cleared up so I have avoided the nasty IVs.
However, I also asked him about me having children and he was not very positive about my chances. In fact he advised against it so it looks like I will never be a mum  .
I've been doing ok with the Christmas presents:
Mum (main and tree present)
Sister (main and tree present)
Boyfriend (a few main presents)
[STRIKE]Brother-in-law (main and tree present)[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Gran (main present only)[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Uncle (main present only)[/STRIKE]
Uncle (main present only)
Auntie (main present)
Oldest male cousin (17 years old - main present only)
Oldest female cousin (14 years old - main present only)
[STRIKE]Youngest female cousin (6 years old - main present only)[/STRIKE]
Youngest male cousin (4 years old - main present only)
[STRIKE]3 x best friends (main presents only)[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Boyfriend's parents (main present only)[/STRIKE]
I won an England glass and a £20 Next voucher for my brother-in-law.
I got £20 worth of M&S vouchers from a Kia test drive so these are going to my Gran (not received them yet though).
I bought a CD for my Uncle with a CD WOW voucher that I won.
I won a Tracy Beaker doll set for my youngest female cousin.
I bought some 3 for 2 sets from Boots for my best friends which cost me £20 in total (used my Christmas vouchers).
I won a hamper the other day with some wine & chocolates in so this is going to my boyfriend's parents.
So not bad going in all - and I've still got £200 vouchers to spend but I want to try and win some more stuff.
I need a new gameplan to try and clear my debts though so I'm going to get my thinking cap on and come up with some new debt clearing plans in the next couple of days.
I'm only at work tomorrow and then I have got the rest of the week off so I will have time to sort myself out.

Doctors don't know everything. You will have to do your own research, find out the risks and balance them against what you want.
I'm not saying he's wrong, but you need to know all the facts yourself, and make the decision yourself.

Thank you.
The problem is that my illness just gets worse and not better and therefore in a couple of years time I could be worse than I am now. My doctor has known me since I was 8 years old and I do trust what he says.
He said that he could never stop me having children but he didn't advise me to for health reasons. I've decided that it's not worth even trying if it reduces my life expectancy.0 -
Hello everyone
Just a quick post today but I just wanted to share that my sister might be pregnant again. She's 18 days late and is feeling really sick all the time and very tired. I really think that she is but she's scared of doing a test.
Hopefully her husband will get her to do one this evening, I will of course keep you all posted. After having all hopes of ever becoming a mum myself quashed, it would be just lovely to find out that I'm going to be an Auntie again.

Would you health prevent you from adopting?
Or what about surrogacy, or is that too extreme (or expensive)?7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -

I have thought about adoption but I don't think that they would allow someone who has a shorter life expectancy than most people to adopt a child. To be honest it wouldn't be very fair to leave any child without a mother so I am probably best to stick to being an Auntie.
I've accepted now that I can't have children though, I just really hope my sister is pregnant again.

As a favourite Auntie myself I can vouch for the benefits of being able to give them back when they make too much mess, noise or smell. You have my deepest condolances on your own motherhood disappointment though. The thing with CF as I understand it is that it can be more severe in some people than in others. Other people with the condition may be fine to have children but you may struggle.
Who knows what the future holds, research is being done all the time. xxDebt £5600 all 0%0 -

Thank you- I think if I had wanted children 4-5 years ago then I would be ok but my illness has gotten worse over the past few years so it's just not worth risking my life. My family and boyfriend all seem pretty relieved that my doctor has advised against it.
Emily xx
(my sister has still not done a test :wall: - she is now saying she will do one on Sunday as that will be exactly 3 weeks late).0
