Thank you for all of your kind messages. I spoke to my boyfriend today about having a baby within the next few years and he was a bit taken aback but seemed ok with the idea.

I think he was shocked because I have basically always shut out the idea that I could ever have children so that I didn't build my hopes up. He said that he would also want to get into a better position financially before trying for a baby and obviously I need to get my health to the best it can be.

Also we still both live with our parents (well I live with my mum) so we would need to get a place together which will cost. Although I'm going to have to wait for at least another year before I leave my mum on her own, it's just not fair to move out so soon after my dad dying.

Like I said, lots of hurdles but I will get there :D

Emily I think it is Fab that you'd like to have kids. Sod the drs, when I was born I was my mums 11th pregnancy after 9 miscarriages and she had to stay in bed the whole 9 mths, drs told her that all she had to do was step foot on the floor and then she would miscarry naturally and they really tried to persuade her to do this because they said I would die as soon as I was born. I was meant to have no roof of my mouth, spina bifida, no top of my head holes in the heart and other things. For some reason after losing all the other babies and listening to the Drs in the past she knew that I would be born fine and would survive, and fafter 9 mths of being told to miscarry me she had me and I am and always have been fit and well. I also have 2 boys of my own now and had them with no problems at all falling pregnant straight away and I always assumed right until i held my 1st boy that I would lose him at some point and I didn't !!!!!!!!! So blows to the Drs they may know a lot but no-one know your body and what your capable more than you.

Go for it Emily!!!!!!!! ( And I second if we all waited til we could afford to have babies the human race would be extinct in no time).

Ok, to aid my attempt at becoming debt free, I am aiming to win ALL of my Christmas presents this year!! :j

I wanted to keep a record of the people I need to buy for and the presents that I have managed to win so far on here. The people I need to buy for are:

    Mum (main and tree present)
    Sister (main and tree present)
Boyfriend (very fussy man, need to win something extra special if I can  )
    Brother-in-law (main [STRIKE]and tree present[/STRIKE])
    Gran (main and tree present)
Uncle x 2 (main and tree present for one and main present for other)
    Auntie (main present)
Oldest male cousin (17 years old - main present only)
Oldest female cousin (14 years old - main present only)
[STRIKE]Youngest female cousin (6 years old - main present only)[/STRIKE]
Youngest male cousin (4 years old - main present only)
3 x best friends (main presents only)
    Boyfriend's parents (main present only)

Ok, I think that is all I need to buy for. I have got 2 presents so far and they are a Tracy Beaker doll set that I won which I will give to my youngest female cousin and an official England pint glass that I will put under the tree for my brother-in-law.

Not long to go until Christmas so I need to pull my finger out!!

  • Emily, you seem to win loads of competitions. What do you reckon your entry to win ratio is. I haven't entered loads but haven't even seen a sniff of a runner up prize.
What sort of comps do you enter?
7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers

I'm not sure how many comps I actually enter. I just enter anything and everything usually. It costs a bit in stamps but I get these from Ebay and I make my own postcards. I also enter a lot of internet comps, text comps, phone comps, entry form comps etc etc.

I think I am pretty lucky with the prizes that I win but then I do enter a lot of competitions every day, I am kind of obsessed with it ;)
  • Good luck to you, we'll all come to the baby's first birthday party!

Awww, thank you - that's a good idea - a DFW birthday party of course ;)

Seriously though thank you for your kind messages about my decision to try for a baby. I've got my next appointment with my consultant on the 6th November so I will know more about my chances and what I need to do to help myself then.

I don't think I will be able to start trying for at least another year but I am getting really broody now!!

I know this sounds really thick but how do you make your own postcards? Do you just do them on white card and write the info on it, or do them on you pc?
