Just stumbled on this thread and am just wondering whether you could make your card making into a small business.

I know that the market for homemade cards can be quite flooded in some areas but it might be worth looking into. Of course, it might be the charity bit that is allowing you to sell your cards, but if you have a flair for it then you never know.

Perhaps you could find a compromise and donate a percentage to the baby unit. Obviously you would need to do some research into cost of consumables and possible markets/outlets etc.

I don't think that it would make you a millionaire but every little helps...

Another vote for Emily to win the POM. She's a role model to many in taking positive action in the face of adversity... both financial and personal.

It's also terrific to see how many supportive members there are on MSE.

It's a great example of how the community can work at its best.
    Much respect, cheers, Wilf.
    Keep smiling!

    Hi Emily,

I stumbled across your thread yesterday and have just finished reading it all. You are amazing. I have big debts too, and for a while I've been thinking they'd drown me, but reading your post has made me grit my teeth and aim to clear a debt a month too - thank you for proving it can be done.

Hope you win the post of the month.

Oh MY! Was just browsing the site and I stumbled on this thread. I had to read it from beginning to end. I had to find out what the outcomes were. Emily, best of luck. Anyone thats suffered halve of what you have realise that were alot stronger than what we all think. Having goals is so important, especially if it has a positive effect on how you lead your life. I felt abit down because my dad died exactly 4 years ago on May 17th. He was the only family I had. But as we all know, everyone has problems and tradegies, its what we make of them.I truly hope evryone that has had a say on this thread are well, healthy and gettin happy (and debt free). Especially you, Emily!!

    Hi there Emily

I've been re-reading this thread since I posted the other day.You are truly a star :starmod: When you started this post you said about paying a debt a month and that you worked part time cos of your health. Since then you've paid off 2 large debts ( a big achievement in itself) and, despite your 2 terrible losses and further health problems you have increased your hours back to full time as well as taking on extra work with mystery shopping and AQA to achieve your goals. Through reading this thread and other people's responses and suggestions I have now signed up with 2 mystery shopping companies and put some books on Amazon, none of which I knew about before.

I hope you achieve your goals this year so you can then go back to part time work and enjoy your life without the hefty weight of debt on your shoulders. You deserve it  :T  :grouphug:

Is it wrong to bump a thread up if it's coming up to the end of the month? :D
