do you have to be over 18 to "play" second life?

to go on the main grid, yes. there is a teen second life for under 18's.
  • OMG i have joined but what exactly do you do? Taken me ages to figure out how to get rid of my tattoos and how do i earn money? seems a bit boring tbh

if i had a pound for every person who joined second life and said "ok, what do i do now?" :)

do whatever you want to do - how would you earn money in real life ?

second life is a simulation of real life, so whatever you can do in real life, you can do in second life.
  • do i just get a job via the 'job centre' ? I have befriended a nice lass and she is trying to guide me through it bless her, she gave me a skin to rid me of my tattoos lol

That makes it more attractive to a child as a financial proposition than an adult.
  • Ok my troll alarm bells are now ringing because you have continued to ignore my question about the 'saucy new job' thread and have continued to over-exaggerate in trying to claim this idea will attract children.

I will pose the question one more time. How is this idea any more objectionable than the 'saucy new job' thread?. That thread, as I have said, promotes actual work in the sex industry. This thread offers an idea for a computer simulation. It is not the sex industry. It never was the sex industry.

I would also give my support to an over-18's sub-forum but as a bare minimum, it would need credit card details to register because at the moment that really is one of the few ways, if not the only way, to verify that the age of the applicant is over 18 - end even then is no guarantee due to under 18's 'obtaining' the credit card details of parents or family members.
I still don't care what you think and I really don't care if you want to characterise me as a "troll." I've been here long enough to be credible when I express an opinion.
  • no system is foolproof though - kids are a lot more savvy technically nowadays and, as i'm sure you're aware as a parent, if you tell a child they can't have something or are 'banned' from seeing something, then they'll just want to see it even more.

    That was helpful.

Dustangle . Ty for your reply Ive been a member of MSE since 2004, this is the 1st thread Ive posted , whereby I asked the mods, beforehand . I will remove the ( over 18s ) Only you and edingburgh lass , have expressed concern , both of which I hope Ive explaned , as I said , please report to abuse , should you feel Im promoting anything other than my OP

You haven't removed the "over 18s" reference, and you probably can't. I am not objecting to the reference, I just thought it was hypocritical.

What I fundamentally object to is anything that encourages people to get into any aspect of the commercial sex industry, and that includes your original post. I don't care if it's legal, and I don't care if it isn't particularly lucrative, at least from an adult's point of view. Exploiting people sexually in any way is corrupting, and anyone who does anything to encourage it is complicit. You are actively promoting a way in. That makes you a pimp in my view. Again, I don't know if you, or the poster who has had a go at me, is benefiting financially or otherwise from the "service" you are offering. You are promoting and essentially recruiting people into this work, and it is possible that for some of the many people who are keen to learn more from you it will be a first step into "the life."

You and others object to the forthright way I have chosen to express myself. I won't apologise for this. I do think it is important that someone stands up against what you are saying and I am heartened that I am not the only one who feels this way.

I also think that the proprietors of this forum have shown poor judgement in permitting it to be used to allow you to promote this.
