With all these posts and links/emails to media organisations and still no-one has done it? Talk is cheap. By the time you get these cameras they'll only be worth £98

kinster you never did answer my earlier question ..you didnt order did you and and me thinks that you wish you had ......

afraid to say that you are very wrong ..i have emailed more than a few news organisations simply because apple did a wrong ...what may have started out as a genuine mistake by them was quickly turned into something far worse ..and on that score i believe that they should be made to answer ...

this morning my order staus is also now saying cancelled....as yet i still await the secongd email that apple promised ......umm once again cart ..horse and stable door come to mind

I had ordered both a Nikon Coolpix (on 30 Dec) and an Olympus E1 (on 29 Dec). Both orders have been cancelled by Apple.

I have just phoned them. The helpful call centre rep said both cameras were end of line, and stock had run out very quickly, and no new stocks can be obtained.

The Coolpix 5200 is still being advertised on the Apple Store website. So until this is removed, it looks like a lot more orders will be taken, and there will be more disappointed customers!

Apple's web ordering, stock control and customer communications is in need of a major overhaul!

I hope they do, because I ordered one too (legitimately). However, they obviously never had enough (if any) to cover the mass order, and I really dont believe we have a case that could be won in the courts, and I suspect thats what it would take to get them to supply a similar camera.

It's no good getting high and mighty about the company lying and cheating customers (as some have done) when that isn't the case. They are just doing what any company would do in such circumstances, and no doubt their lawyers have told them they are on solid ground.

they lied to me ..a bare faced lie ..no shades of grey an employee of thiers on the phone mumbled that the camera are not made anymore..thats not what olympus say they say the cameras are still availbale..... later on in the day other people where told different truths by apple till one person got what is probably the real truth out of them ...the camera was mispriced and WILL be sold again by them at the new higher price....

i wouldnt take the high ground unless I 100% believed that a wrong had been done... sod the camera theres a fundamental issue in that big bizzness shouldnt be able to simply make the rules up as they go along.... they make the terms and conditions... when you agree to buy from them...do you think these terms are really there to protect you as the consumer or perhpas they are thier for the companies own benefit....if its the later then they should be made to play and stick by them...even on occassions when they get it wrong

the second email by the way is also in the original terms in that before they cancel any order they must make an attempt to offer a substitute product and only after that can they cancel ....

right to the end apple make the rules to suit them .....

heres hoping that watchdog or the likes or even perhaps Martin Lewis himself looks in on this fiasco and thinks yes its time that big companies are made to show some respect to those who keep them in bizzness.

In a perfect world every single person at an organisation would give the same account (preferably the truth). However, in reality, and in a situation like this staff dont always get the full story, and variations abound. You seem to favour the version that the camera was mispriced, and will be sold again. Why? Because it suits your argument.

We dont know how mant they had initially, or whether any went out at the bargain price. They say they are NO longer available. If thats the case then I cant have one.

If you are pursuing this all the way, then good luck, but the reality is that they made a mistake initially, and we all tried to take advantage. They've fought back, and I think most people expected that.

so you ordered , have had that order cancelled and have recieved the promised second email . If not then they treat you with the same contempt that they have treated all of us. The whole point is that no one here on this site can claim to knowing the truth because apple has never bothered to communicate it.

eh maybe because that what their customer services manager said would happen, and not just to one person.
perhaps you should take your finger out of your a**e and actually look at what apple have done.
Illegal use of mispricing and very very poors CS. don't you think other people should know how bad they are as a company to buy from?

What they've done is make a mistake on pricing. We all tried to take advantage. I suspect the vast majority of us knew from the outset that it was a mistake, and that it wouldn't come off. I went into it with that attitude, so wasn't surprised when I didn't get a camera. If mixed messages are coming from different members of staff it's not really surprising, although the bottom line is they haven't got any cameras so they cant supply them, at whatever price.

If they sent a personal grovelling letter to everyone apologising, I'm sure here would still be some who wanted to screw them because of a mistake on a web page. Some poor devil might lose their job because of it, but never mind them eh!!
