I think people may be overestimating how many orders have been placed for these - I ordered pretty much as soon as this thread appeared, and my friend from Uni ordered at about 5pm. Our order numbers only differ by 3000, and I'm guessing that the apple shop will get a lot of orders for other products as well, so even if half of these were for the camera, say 1500, by the time the non students are discounted (I'm guessing they'll ask for proof) this number may be as low as 500 or so, and say apple are buying these in at £300 then the would only be making a loss of £100,000 - probably a cheap advertising campaign for them! I know I'm making assumptions, but I am an economics student so can't help myself!

Only thing you seem to have missed out is that people wont have only ordered 1 item!
