My DD1 has asked me a few times whether a certain jolly, overweight gentleman, with a penchant for red attire is a genuine being, or a fantasy, created to add magic to a holiday that has lost religious meaning for many people (not all I know! Before anyone shouts at me). My response is always the same:
"I have no idea what you're talking about!"
So, she said to my mother,
" I know that FC isn't real Grandma"
My mother replied,
"aww, do you darling, how do you feel about that?"
She came back to me and relayed said conversation. My response???
"I have no idea what you're talking about!"

My line has always been that I love the magic of FC and fairies, and would hate to live in a world without that magic.
One of my friends is a primary teacher. She had the smart mouth kid who said
"FC isn't real, is he Miss?!"
Cue all little faces turned expectantly and wide-eyed to teacher... her response?
"Oh Billy, what a shame you don't believe anymore. You know, FC comes to everyone, but he has to stop when boys and girls stop believing in him. When they stop, their mummies and daddies have to start buying them their presents instead. "
She continued....
"I hope my children don't stop believing in FC, because my imagination isn't very good, and I don't like spending lots of money on presents" :T :rotfl: :T
Cue lots of nodding heads form relieved children, and general murmuring 'I believe, I'm not going to stop believing etc etc'

I got my first medal, and I didn't notice it arrive!
:T :T :T Congrats on the medal SS -I think they come at 750?
I love the santa story - kids are kids and really want to believe, even when they're told it's not true, so I think that teachers answer was great...
As for fairies, witches, angels and everything else out there - why not believe? nothing to say they're not true and, IMHO, a bit of fantasy/belief/wishful thinking about whatever you want to believe in can help you through some tough times when you need it and also make you feel childlike again when you want to - Magic is in our lives if we let it - just look at Pigpens DD - magic right there - believe away I say!LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -

Lamp seems to be working fine, although I do seem to wake up as soon as it starts to glow. Maybe stopping me from just lying there because I have to sit up to reach the buttons, but I do like the birdsong.
If it wakes you as soon as it begins glowing, maybe set the alarm a little later? so you don't lose 30mins sleep. Sometimes I wake when it's just started glowing, but it's on DH's bedside table, so if I roll over I don't get the full impact of it, and can go straight back to sleep.
If I want to wake up more fully, I'll adjust my pillow so that I get more light hitting my closed eyes. It's amazing how much that stimulates the cortisol!!MMSSB Club Founder Member

I think santa may have to bring me one!! I sleep like the dead and can sleep anywhere at any time regardless of the light or temperature.. BUT in winter I would hibernate if it wasn't for others waking me up I am a nightmare on really dark mornings..
Do they actually work then??
I have to have my alarm set an hour before I need to be up because I can hit snooze in my sleep! and I have the children turn on my bedroom light when they get up (7:30am) and I can still go back to sleep!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

I know she would love it, but she's not sure, just need to get this driving test done in the new year I think... pigpen...quidwhato?
Just got back and had some toast, had to take parents to airport as my mum is taking my dad to Venice for his 60th. I have the unenviable task of taking their dogs to the kennels later, hate doing it as they jump around in the car  I think I might fetch them, bring them here and see if Mr G will take them actually to the kennels.Fluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

Would love to see it, bet it's great...
Mine may not believe 100% (still not sure about DS?) but still love the spirite of Christmas, their stockings are big knitted ones they had when they were babies and we still use them, heaven forbid I forget to get them out! They have TELETUBBIE cloth sacks for at the bottom of their beds, just because they've had them since being kids and they have their names on and I HAVE TO TAKE THEM ON HOLIDAY WITH US coz santa won't know who they are otherwise in a strange house (remember, they're 15 & 19 yrs old!) They only get about 2-3 small prezzies in there, just for first thing, as they can open them, but they're not allowed to open the stuff under the tree until we're all up - this year it will still be at home when we get back on Boxing Day (too much luggage and they charge now  and I'm a mean mummy) so we will have two christmasses...:T :T :TLBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0
