When I was learning for my test, which ok was about 14 years ago now my dad took me out loads, then I had 3 or 4 lessons with an instruction to polish up my driving skills such as remembering to look in the mirror and all the niggly bits you never think about when driving. Anyway johanne it only says recommend! If you can drive well and are confident with the family member then it all countsFluttering about an inch off the ground, I may fly properly one day and soar in the clouds!

Poohbear hugs for you and hope you are feeling better soon
Soappie if you don't fancy a G&T it's serious, hope you feel better soon
Carol hugs for you. Pink's post was great, I can't offer much advise but it is horrid to feel that everything is on top of you.
Flower great news on the tax
Johanne if you've had lessons before and practised with family/friends then you definitely won't need to go back to the beginning - it is like all skills, riding a bike, skiing etc you will be nervous and rusty the first time but a lot of it will come back to you.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Hmm so by old standards id need 46hrs..
ive done about 20 hours more recently with a family member...
If i could do it in 35 lessons i think i could manage to budget for that.
I would go along with the twice your age (it's what I was always told people took) instead of the DSA's recommendation. Especially if you've already done 20hrs recently (even if you just count it as 10hrs; 35 lessons + 10hrs = 45hrs) it should be enoughYou should go for it!
I'm gonna start lessons next spring. I should *hopefully* have a head start because I can drive my vespa already (and I used to teach people in the simulator lol)
Good Luck

Johanne It took me 20 or so lessons when I was 18, but I had tons and tons of practice with my boyfriend at the time. I think if you're lucky enough to be able to get practice apart from lessons it REALLY helps. BTW awwwww to pic of baby Pumpkin!
Craftyscholar well done you braving M&S. I definitely made the right choice not to go then!
Quiet evening for me here I think. DD2 & 3's school closed tomorrow, broken boiler. Don't know if that's good or bad!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:MMSSB Club Founder Member

It must ne the phase of the moon or something but I have just had my best friend tell me that I have been deliberately making her feel bad and I am sooo upset. I can't stop crying.
I think she is right too which is why I am so sad. I have to rely so much on other people ans she had promised me a trip to the city to go shopping in September and now she is going with someone else. She was really annoyed and told me that basically I am not very nice and I was trying to make her feel bad and put the phone down on me. I couldn't answer her as I am so choked. DH says, drop her but I am sure that it is me in the wrong again. She started off by telling me I need valium. Now I can't stop crying. I feel so awful.

soappie ((hugs)) hope you feel better soon
poohbear hope you feel better soon, with the friend thing it doesn't sound like she's being very nice either but of course none of us were involved in the conversation to comment.
carol, hope you manage to sort things and feel better about it all, we all have times like that, I'm just snapping out of a recent sticky patch myself
Flower wooohoooo great news
Rach spreadsheets hopefully on it's way.........comments bit I use for things like ordered but waiting for delivery, where it is, if it needs wrapping etc
johanne I took about 50 or more I think, first ones with a different instructor then with a great one who I got on better with. I budgetted for lessons each month rather than taking from savings and this budget amount was then what I would need to have a car on the road, if I couldn't budget for the lessons I couldn't afford a car so would be pointless if you see what I mean?
Christmas cards, I think it's worth saying how many have signed up, there was only about 10 of us last year so not as tricky as some think, how many have we got so far this year pigpen?
Todays list, empties flung, have made DS1 take his book collection out of the bathroom!!!! Cleaned the rest. Need to have a resort of all the toiletres I think. 5 things about me...some might be a negative aswell as a positive lol...I can be helpful, considerate, useful, resourceful and never give up on anything I believe in. I've also made a massive dent in the laundry mountain sort.....which I hope to get finished this evening. I do have another washerload in and a load in the drier but need to start putting it away as soon as it's done. One day I might be more organised...........

Sorry you must be tired of my problems too,
I'll hear nothing of the sort..
1. if she was a halfway decent human being let alone firend she woul dbe there for you whether it was good times or bad.. a friend is for life not just for the good times!
2. if that is what she thinks f*** her!! Sounds like she lacks social skills and empathy.. what would you do in her shoes? Be rude and upset a friend or be sympathetic and do your best to cheer them up?
3. A plague of leeches upon her!!! and a dose of jock itch!
