There is a flippin' nutcase on The ONE show who likes wasps......mad as a hatter. Camp site we were on was 14 kids stung in under 2 hours! That guy was just handling the things carefully.......not a chance. (having a bad reaction as a kid has put me off! seeing that I have not changed my mind!!)
One day I might be more organised...........

Hmm so by old standards id need 46hrs.. new id need 65hrs @ £20ish a lesson. yikes. Bout 4 years ago i actually did 10 hours with a proper instructor and ive done about 20 hours more recently with a family member but obviously i reckon most people will say that wont count and i'll have to start over again like i know nothing!

I'd love to start learning again but it works out at about £1300 if i need to do the 65 hours. That wipes out all my savings which were to tide me and sarah over the next year or so. :(

If i could do it in 35 lessons i think i could manage to budget for that. I planned on doing the passplus course too which is £150 extra after ive passed but heard good things about doing it.

Just spoken to my brother who is a driving instructor he says it depends on the person, the guidelines are more geared towards teenagers if you are someone who picks things up quickly and can get out to practice then between 10-15 however if you take things slowler then 20+ he did say that he finds women in their 20s with young children more determined to pass as they have such a bad time on public transport!!!

johanne I took about 50 or more I think, first ones with a different instructor then with a great one who I got on better with. I budgetted for lessons each month rather than taking from savings and this budget amount was then what I would need to have a car on the road, if I couldn't budget for the lessons I couldn't afford a car so would be pointless if you see what I mean?

Yeah id thought about that... it is being budgetted for in the regular budget out my weekly "pocket" money which i always seem to have left over, but I want to make sure i have enough in savings to carry on with them if circumstances where to suddenly change e.g. like if XOH suddenly leaves with no notice .... and so the monthly income suddenly drops because i dont have a job myself yet. I'd hate to have to give them up... again. Just having the licence would be an achievement even if i couldnt afford the car.

  • Hi flyladies

A quick hello and hugs to you all.

Carol - I'd go and see your GP hun. Also speak to someone at uni. I have panic attacks about once a week still, worrying about how much I have to do and my friends are the same.

Miss you all...I'll be back soon
