  • DMP - Debt Management Plan - through a non-profit organization such as CCCS or Payplan you make offers of reduced payments to your creditors based on what you can afford to repay. Going off the budget you have posted your creditors would almost certainly not accept your proposals. Cut your mammoth £1000 Tesco shop in half, they almost certainly would.

My DMP is through Payplan. They are great. Give them a ring.

    hi insider 66

I'm trying hard to get a new job, I'm bored at home.

I don't know what those things are that your talking about. this has all just happened to me with being just two months behind. My savings didn't last very long!

What do you suggest in my case?

    Hi there distressedpleasehelp,

I have just been out of work for 6 weeks and although I started work last week, I won't get paid til mid-december
So I totally understand how quickly savings / access to cash can quickly disappear...

First things first - take a deep breath and settle back for a couple of hours and really explore this website, forum and threads.
There are so many amazing ideas and suggestions, vast amounts of information, help and support, that you will really benefit from taking an afternoon out.

My boyfriend now says that :money: is "the other man" in my life as I'm always trawling through this site. :D

Thinking of you and best wishes

  • awwwh thanks dominos thats nice of you.

I'm taking your advice and thats just what I am doing.
  • _pale_ How much with my level of debt would they be looking for as a repayment on a debt management programme? Anyone have a rough idea?
And if I go on a DMP and circumstances change, what happens?
What if they get worse, can I then go on a trust deed?
  • Hi again distressed (hopefully a little less so!)

there is no set amount for any level of debt, the amount you pay is set by your circumstances, not how much you owe.

It can be very little, it all depends on what you feel you can live on.
If your circumstances change while on a DMP, simply tell the company sorting it out for you and alter the payments, it is an informal arrangement so you don't have to keep up certain payments as in a Trust Deed.

A Trust Deed may be the right thing to do, but I would get on a DMP first, then sit back and take stock while you have some breathing space, then find out as much as you can about a PTD and decie if it's right for you.

The thing is, if a trust deed fails, you will be made bankrupt...

    Hope this helps

    Hi distressed,

when you say that your teenagers eat at college/school, do you make them a packed lunch?

If it's definately a DMP (for now at least) best is probably CCCS - don't let them talk you into anything else, as they have been known to by others of late, but they're free - may take a while to get going, but they give you a ref. no to pacify your creditors in the meantime

hope you feel better than when you got here :D
