i went onto the fuji website and typed in the question cannot install software and this was the answer
To install the software and drivers for your FinePix digital camera, please place the supplied CD-ROM into your CD drive. The software installation wizard should start up immediately and you can just follow the instructions on the screen to install the relevant software.
If the wizard does not open up automatically, please go to My Computer and double click on your CD-ROM drive.
If you are using a CD entitled "Software for FinePix", double click on the "setup.exe" file (the ".exe" bit may not show depending on the settings on your computer)
If you are using a CD entitled "Utilities for Fujifilm Digital Camera", double click on the "VIEWER" folder and then double click on the "setup.exe" file (the ".exe" bit may not show depending on the settings on your computer)
Once the installation wizard is underway, simply follow the on-screen instructions carefully to install the software.
it would be ok if i knew what to do there or even if this will help my problem
just thought i would let you know this incase it helpsappreciate what you have got x0 -
Can you try looking in MY COMPUTER now, so see if you camera is connected?
I don't know specifics about the Fuji software, but it sounds just like a photo viewer/manipulation package. It shouldn't have anything to do with downloading photos unless it has a 'connect to camera' type instruction.
Try going http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/technical/folder.pl?id=241 and download the driver for XP, fourth one down.
Once its downloaded, reboot and see if that makes any difference when connecting the camera.0 -
thanks for sticking with me and helping me through this.
it is saying the finepix is in (Q:) and when i click on that it starts the installing finepix viewer
now i have just gone through ll the installation end process and thought it was going to work, something was said that wasnt said before and then it hcame up with the same message on my original post, and the little ballon at the bottom said that your new hardware might not work propery
what a nightmare this thing is eh?appreciate what you have got x0 -
I'm still not convinced this should stop you viewing your pics via XP. The driver warnings mean that the PC has recognised the camera, so even if it cannot get the software to work, it knows it's there.
I know I keep going back to Start, My Computer - but can you look there now and see if there is a removable device. This is the bit that is troubling me, as it should be there.0 -
again, stupid question, you have got your memory card in the camera?what is the plural of moose?
slags0 -
no its not a stupid question, just checked its all in properly and it is,still getting communication error on my camera.
I have been to my computer and its all the same as i said before,is there nowhere else it might be what you are looking for?appreciate what you have got x0 -
No unfortunately. In My Computer should be all your drives. A being your floppy, C your harddrive and E or D your CDR (for example). Anything else, as a drive, should be your camera. XP has obviously picked up your camera but won't load the drivers.
Did you download the one from Fujis website, in my post above? It could be there is a problem with the driver on your disc (or the disc). The USB cable seems to be fine as XP is identifying you have a camera there.
My neighbour has a Fuji, don't think the same model, but I can't think of much more to do, except speak to him.
Edit - Any ideas anyone? Intel? Browntoa? Mr Skint?0 -
hi windym
yes i downloaded that from the website but its still not coming up with anything on my computer, this is very frustrating, because as i said went onto my dads and straight away it came up with my photos no problem, that was without the disc,i will maybe ring fuji in the morning see waht they say,yes i dont think it is the usb even though it is saying communication error, its probably something im doing wrong,
thankyou for all you help, you are very kind to have spent so much time helping me,i appreciate it)
If your friend knows anything will you please let me knowappreciate what you have got x0 -
