i am trying to download the photos from my camera onto my pc but i am having problems.
i have done all what it says on the instructions and everything was going well and going onto my pc,but at the very end i had this message from the wizard thing
''cannot install software
there was a problem with installation
an error occured
the driver installation file for this device is missing a neccasarry entry.this maybe because the INF file is written for windows 98 or later''
then on my camera when i put the usb in the pc is says communication error on the camera.
i have windows xp,and when i tried to do it on my dads pc,which is exactly the same as mine it done it straight away no problem, the pictures came up,no problems.
hope somone can help
thanks

it looks like you might have to remove the camera's usb drivers and re-install them.BR 4/10/07

If you have Xp then you should be able to access the photos another way....
Connect the camera to the PC and switch it on
Double click MY COMPUTER and look for a removable device (this will be your camera). Then double click the removable device. Double click DCIM, then double click the folder that has the name of your camera in ie 100CANON. Inside will be your pictures.
Press edit (along the top) and SELECT ALL. Then on the left side click on the 'copy all files - or move all files'. Move will take them off your camera for good, copy will leave them on your camera and put them on your PC.
Now your photos should be on your PC. Try that and let us know.0 -
hi
i have clicked on my computer but there is no removable devices on there to click on.appreciate what you have got x0 -
odd, i know you probably have but, your camera is turned on isnt it when you plug it in? and you have selected the 'show' option instead of taking phontos option?
xp auto recognises any new hardware so as long as your usb connection is good and not damaged, it will recognise your digital camera. then as mentioned you can just view in windows phot software built into windows.
just a thought but you have updated youe windows on update windows havent you? i remember a while ago there was a usb update.what is the plural of moose?

well first answer is i have put it on to show photos, and it is still saying in the top right usb and in the middle it says in red communication error.

CD-R drive

Ok. So now plug in your camera and turn it on. Then tell me what you have.0

nothing, nothing happens
what i hear is the little opo sound that reconises the camera but i cant see it on the bottom where it pops up saying new hardware or whatever.
(on my dads it just done it straight away it said found finepix a345)
when i first turn the camera on it says in green top right usb and in the middle is ays dsc and a icon next to it must mean usb i think, then it just goes straight onto communication error
thanks for helping me with this!appreciate what you have got x0 -
Right, so we have found it on your dads.
Not quite sure about how you describe yours though. Ignoring the 'found new hardware' (or lack of it) on yours, if you plug the camera in and turn it on and then
Start, My computer - what is in there with your A, C, CDR and Docs?0 -
there could be a problem with your camera's USB lead if you are getting a communications error.BR 4/10/07
