How on earth are they going to earn interest on the larger sums (by paying the smaller ones first) - they don't have the money to earn interest on, it's all coming from the government!

I also don't see how people think their money in Icesave (or the interest they're not getting paid on it) is more important than other peoples. So what if you have 10, 30, 50, 100 thousand in there, are you sure it's really more important than someone else's 3 or 4 thousand to them?

It's a major IT exercise only to us - to them it's just their day job. I can't believe my lawyer doesn't work weekends, my electrician doesn't come out at 3am when the power goes, or that my bank isn't open on Sunday evening when I need to use it. It's just their job, and while it's important to us so are every one else's jobs to their clients, but they don't work the weekends.

Finally, how can people still honestly be worried about their money in Icesave - it's been guaranteed 100% for weeks now, and is being doled out however the FSCS have chosen to do it - no second email? So what, they did say it would take a few weeks to compensate £8 billion.

Personally I'm leaving my bond in Icesave - while there are better deals out there setting yet another account up, waiting for it to clear and chosing yet another set of login id/favourite place/name/favourite model of tractor in the old USSR/ leaving where it is is the easiest thing to do.

TUesday update - tried to iniaite today (after 3 phone calls telling me the 'system needs refreshing' and STILL can't iniaite claim after 4 days!!! I have phoned every day and no-one has thought to tell IT and now have been told they might not be able to do it today as they are busy and go home at 5pm. Give me strength - for a major IT exercise I cannot believe that they closed at the weekend and only work 9-5. I really lost my rag today big time. They have also locked me out of my other ID account so have to wait for the postal claim so its over £30k they have sitting there. I'm sure I'm not the only one being stuffed like this.

Jm104, I'm really sorry to hear of your continuing problems getting to your cash. Noone else that I have heard seems to have had these problems. I'm not sure what to suggest other than trying to get onto someone higher up the chain when you next telephone them. You can always threaten bad publicity which they really won't want to hear if you don't get satisfaction immediately.

    Good luck today.

Putting off a payment reduces the interest when the money is borrowd. I dont think that is the reason for the "slow" start. They seem to want to be safe in case it ends up as a pile of **** - we would all be unhappy then!

Human nature - everyones own money is more important than other peoples. Those who rely on regular income to life are being hit hard by this. If you work out the daily rate on 100K, it is worth having! Interest rates have fallen and we cannot find as good a place to re-invest it.

My bank doesnt open on Sundays!

It is a significant IT exercise in the time available. They couldnt plan in advance, presumably have limited resources and we all have an interest in it working.
