ok, it has reappeared which means we'll have to edit your registry.

    firstly look for
    <Temp>\159.bat (may be safely deleted)
    <Temp>\436.bat (may be safely deleted)

go to start > run and type regedit. WARNING: editing your registry can screw up your computer if u don't know what your doing, make a backup first, registry > export reg file.

    Remove the following keys:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    TaskControlLog
    csrdeu32.exe

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    TaskControlLog
    csrdeu32.exe

    Just close regedit.

Re-delete the files as they have re occured, then run HijackThis, if the lines:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TaskControlLog] csrdeu32.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [TaskControlLog] csrdeu32.exe

exist, tick them and hit fix, reboot then repost again.

  • Hi Meep,

Do you mean do a backup of just the Registry editor or ALL files on the computer?

Im also not 100% clear on what you are asking me to do in your previous post and if its sensitive stuff I just dont want to screw things up further...!

just the registry m8, your ok if u just remove those 2.

If u navigate through those directories:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and inside you'll find the keys called:
    TaskControlLog
    csrdeu32.exe

just highlight them both and press delete.
  • Seems to of got rid, but I might be wrong! Thanks anyway. Let me know if there is more to do.

good looks like thats got it :), does your computer run better?
  • Yeah it seems to be running better than it has done for months!

Are there any other suggestions or improvements to be made?

I dont want to rain on anyones parade here but there are at least 3 entries in this log that should go (including one of the 023 services mentioned before....the Mouse Hardware Synch).

Nevertheless, as meep says, how is it going now? We can address the removal of those final items after you report back.
  • pchelpman,

it seems to be running just fine but if there are things that should go tell me what?, where?, and how?

Also, I feel my startup is cluttered (hence slow to boot up) whats the best way to deal with that?

Thanks again for the continued help

i was going to ask pchelpman to look over the log for any other bits of stuff, as I see from previous posts he's a malware marvel :).

    Find the file:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\mousehs.exe

and delete it (it may be hidden)

check the box in hijackTHis and click fix.

You can use start > run > msconfig to take things out of the startup, or use HiJack this, personally I'd use msconfig, and seeing as its not my computer, check with pchelpman on what u can take off.
