  • Ok, an update from my weekend! I haven't had much chance to get on here recently, thanks for the comments and support though!!
Weekend, I couldn't manage to get any work :( so I'm a bit stuck, have £80 left in my bank account and a £50 direct debit coming out... thing is it's a friends birthday on Friday and I've said I'd head out for it!! This is incredibly naughty of me, because she's going out for a meal and then club and so I know it's going to be an expensive night! So I'm pretty sure that the £30 I have left is all going on that! I've checked out the food menu though and I've found something for £7.50 in advance, was thinking that I won't actually drink at the restaurant and wait until we go to the club (As it's cheap drinks in there) There's going to be Karaoke though so I don't know how easy it'll be not to drink!? I'm wondering whether I should try and make it a totally drink free night and that can work out a bit cheaper!? Need to make some decision about that!
Anyhow I had a good weekend... a really good one thanks to the OH!! It's been loads better between us after our talk and he decided it was a treat weekend. Friday Night though I met up with a couple of friends round one of their houses and drank wine (That I already had) Then I got the train up to another friends who cooked me a full english, went round my parents took the dog for a walk and had a hot chocolate (Again friend paid for it) Then back to mine - headed over to OH as his friend was having a house party. OH brought me 3 bottles of wine to take with me!! (A bit excessive!) I ate round his courtesy of his Mom that evening! Then Sunday OH cooked me a full english (haha again!) we went shopping and he brought me a new dress, then he took me out for a really nice meal, then he took me to the cinema!!
So he's definitely in my good books - the dress is really nice and it was so nice to be properly treated (he treats me all the time but this weekend was excessive!) He wanted to do it as he knows how hard it's been these last months with paying off my debts :)
Anyhow so I didn't spend a penny all weekend....! I have just been Tesco and got Sandwich things, plus ingredients for Chilli (friends coming for dinner on Thursday) all for just under £6! I have £10 in my purse still left (on top of £80 in bank) I'm going to the gym tonight (free pass) with friend - going to a film night round another friends tmw.. so I'm hoping I'm not going to need to spend any more money now until Friday!!
Ok - so another essay from me :) Mainly good things though and I think I can make my January challenge :)

Sounds like you had a good weekend, and the worries with OH are not worries any more!

Regarding your £30 left in the bank after your DD has been paid - this now becomes your new challenge, so rather than dread it, play the game - how long can £30 last you? You have already made a start by looking at the menu for Friday and seeing what you can have - that is a really good move.

When do you next get paid? - you could work out how much you have for each day between now and then (eg £1.78) and then challenge yourself to spend less than that each day......it gets quite addictive once you start, and just think how fab you will feel if you get through to payday without a problem, yet will still have managed a social life!

  • 11 days until pay day - I have £30 plus £10 in my purse... so technically I have £3.63 to spend a day... However I really want that £30 for the night out.. so I think I am going to aim for making that £10 last the 11 days!! I have food in the house for this week, including sandwiches and will just need to top up at the weekend... so I have 90p to spend a day... fingers crossed I get bar work Saturday Night (Entertainment and Money!) but even if I do then I'm going to stick with the 90p a day budget :)

  • Well - Today, really busy at work so yet again just a quick update.. have spent no extra money.. had baked potato with Brie for dinner and cooked the same for my friend as well.. I have loads of baked potatoes still I've noticed so I'm sorted for dinner for longer then I thought.. maybe just get some baked beans? I am going to cook pork curry tonight, is basically just being made out of leftovers I have! Should last me a few days at least.. think I'll put it in the slow cooker though and have baked potato again for dinner tonight as have to be home and out the house within an hour as going around to my friends for a film night (free!) Am meeting friend for lunch today but I didn't spend yesterday so I have 2x 90p for a cup of tea. Have brought lunch with me! Other then that going to be a NSD :)

    Ooh 90p a day!!! Now that's what I call a challenge!

I'm hoping for a NSD day today, we'll just see what happens though!!

  • Well I've managed to not spend any money since monday now!! My friend paid for my coffee yesterday.. I was very naughty and took the train outside of my zone and didn't pay any extra... but they get £50 a month off me anyhow!!

I think I might need to spend a bit today - my Mom has given me some Dark Cooking chocolate and I've got cream at home - so thinking I'll make a chocolate tart - but I'll just have to buy the pastry!!

Got dinner and pudding around my friends last night, and put a curry in the slow cooker out of leftovers for dinner tonight (Should be able to freeze some for another day as well!)

Need to spend tonight tidying as I have a friend staying Friday (which will save taxi fare!)

I've brought in lunch again... feeling like I'm losing weight as well on this Money Saving, snacking is totally out of the window.. Right still pretty busy at work so better get on with it.. :)

  • Ugh - everything costs so much!! Went over my 3x 90p budget (£2.70) Though mainly due to the fact I won't buy battery hen eggs.....

Spent £3.18 on Eggs, Sandwich Meat, Digestive Biscuits (Thought cheap snack/breakfast for work) and Baked Beans. Oh well at least I have enough sandwich meat for another 3 days.. and enough dinners to see me through until pay day!! Whatever happened to cheap sandwich meat anyhow? I swear I used to be able a big pack of wafer chicken for about £1!! Now it's 5 slices for that price... just had a thought that I have some tuna in the cupboard that could be used for a couple of days as well!!

This is getting hard - I really can't afford to go out on Friday - fingers crossed for work on Saturday Night and also I got a voucher so I only pay £2 to get into club!!!

Yay for money off vouchers! Look out for drinks promo's when inside as well - may mean drinking something different, but could save you a fortune!
Well done on the 90p challenge - I know you went over today, but not by a huge amount and this is a new challenge and you're still tackling it head on! You could re-coup the 48p over-spend over a few days or 1 NSD will wipe it totally! I know what you mean about sandwich meat! When did that go up sooo dramatically? I always keep an eye for for tuna as it is quite often on offer. Although, more than 2 lots of tuna sandwiches in 1 week and my OH doesn't like it!
The weight thing? I agree!! No snacking - go to be good for the old waistline. I am only 1lb over what I was pre-crimbo.... and I ate like food was going out of fashion over the holiday period!!

Have a great day!! Nats x

Good one! I refuse to buy battery eggs as well, I don't understand how anyone could. I would rather cut back elsewhere.
