  • Here is the box and bow all finished. I popped a bit of pink shredded tissue in the box and made the stand which is under the book.

My Mum was really pleased with it.

HI, I would like to attempt to make a simple yet effective hand made card for a 1 yr old girl and suggestions on what i could do? I thought I could spell her name out using cut out letters but this might me tricky

What about letters that are made from something that will feel nice? I know, it probably won't be easy to cut out unless you buy some ready made.

Another idea, apart from the letters, one of those musical thingies I've seen in the Hobbies catalogue but you will have to get a blank card that folds back on itself so you can glue it inside and the child won't be able to get at the workings. Mind you, it is probably much cheaper to buy a ready made card like that and just add something hand made to the front. However, whatever you make, will have to be done in such a way that it's tamper proof and they couldn't swallow anything.

lovely lot of cards you've made princesspoppy - you will have to get yourself a blog to have an online home for all your creations ;)

flourgirl - great new cards on your blog, have left you a comment :)

saveapenny - excellent news about your OH, hope you get yourself sorted soon now

rainmac - lovely cards again, those basic grey papers are so gorgeous, well done

has anyone ever used silicone glue? I was watching QVC recently and Darn bibby was demonstrating it, I was thinking about maybe getting some as I find it hard to line up decoupage easily, and with using foam pads once they're stuck theyre stuck! does anyone here have any experience with silicone glue?

I saw that segment with the glue. I've used it before and it's actually easy although can appear scary because it would seem to be harder to use than sticky pads. I find the pads a nuisance at times as the tape at the back comes right off sometimes and takes the sticky part with it! So I have to try and take the whole thing off the card which can be dodgy.

So go on, try the glue.

thanks for that, I might give it a go once I've plucked up the courage! I just can't bear the thought of it going all wrong, which I know is just being silly lol :rotfl:

Gemma - I've not used it yet but when I bought some the lady in the craft shop said put it on with a matchstick or similar - sounded good advice to me - it should save you getting blobs everywhere.

Kim - why not cut out a number 1 and colour it - theres isn't an easier number 'til she's 7! (in my opinion)

    Welcome Angela!

Kim, flourgirl kindly gave me a link to a brilliant blog site,
http://crafterskitchen.blogspot.com/ and if you have at look at the entry for around 11th April there's a pretty little baby card idea you could use.

Gemm, were they using the syringes for the silicon glue as it looks a little easier to control how much you put on the back of the decoupage. I made my first figure from my recent buy, unfortunately I've lost one of her heads so the lady's neck looks a little lost or shrunken To me looks like a female Darth Vader but it is my first one.
 Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"!

    Hi all again,

    Poppy, I love those cards

Marg - Hi thanks for the welcome, I've been on here before some time ago (I think lol)

Glue and syringes - I didn't have any trouble using the silicone without any syringes even with tiny bits of paper, but I suppose it takes a bit of experimenting to see if you get on with it or not. I'm dreadful with different sorts of glue, but found this one easy.

Actually I've got a card dilemma of my own. A friends birthday and she's very into all things spiritual, historical, Grail, Tarot cards etc.

    Ideas I had -
    1. cross stitch card but I have a habit of sticking the wrong parts of the aperture and messing it up if I feel under pressure.
    2. Using images like tarot cards and using them for collaging a card.

But don't really fancy doing any of these, so any more ideas please?

Princesspoppypop - fantastic cat card!! And I love your cow one too. And your bookatrix card is brilliant - so bright and cheerful, I love how you've made a box to go with it.
I still haven't managed to catch everyone's blog - I must do that in a minute!
Saveapenny - glad your OH's okay!

the wife - they weren't using syringes on qvc but now you mention it I think that i've seen them doing it that way on Ideal world?
