  • Here is a make from today- a cute cow card. I used my new swiss dots embossing folder on the udders which has created a really great effect.

So pleased your OH has the all clear saveapenny :T Just you to sort out now ;)

Thank you so much for the offer but I've taken the plunge and ordered a bookatrix, you knew I would ;). My next query is what kind of card do you use, thickness etc? Do you use anything on the card like soap to help see where to emboss? (saw someone do this on utube). Forgot to say, what do you do about boxes, make or buy? Sorry, too many questions!!!

Posted a couple of new cards on my blog...more Basic Grey ones, sorry I just adore the designs... http://rainmacsplace.blogspot.com/

Did you order an embossing tool to go with the board?

I use normal thickness card for my bookatrix. I havent used soap etc. It takes practice but once you get going its great.

Also as mentioned earlier if you make say 4/5 cards and sell them then the board pays for itself.

I make my boxes with the box maker board, which also has a bow template on it which looks great to decorate it.

The die cut boxes are expensive on ebay! You could make your own by sectioning off 2 pieces of A4 card, one would need to be cut a few mm smaller though.

    Hope this helps x

    :T:T Fantastic cards everyone :T:T

I spent this morning tidying all my craft stuff :D, so all my cross stitch stuff is in one box, and all my card making stuff is now organised too. I never realised how much stuff I had

We are all different I dont use soap but I do run the embossing tool over a candle ( soap would do the same though)
You dont need a board to make box's for the bookatrix just get 2 A4 sheets and trim about 2mm off one long side and 1 short side
Mark about 2cm in on all for sides and score so all your score lines cross so it look like http://s333.photobucket.com/albums/m373/SaveaPenny/Misc/?action=view&current=CCI11022009_00001.jpg this but bigger. Do that on both sheets and the smaller one is your base. Use a glue not double sided tape to glue the flaps in place
I find this just fits a full bookatrixs card on a base

Poppy...the cow is so cute...could you let me have the template pretty please
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

I use soap with my embossing tool - my friend runs hers down the side of her nose :rotfl:.

Thanks for posting about the papers - that's another range I need to keep my eye out for I love the Daisy bucket ones as well.

Have just posted my monochrome card on my blog
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p

lovely lot of cards you've made princesspoppy - you will have to get yourself a blog to have an online home for all your creations ;)

flourgirl - great new cards on your blog, have left you a comment :)

saveapenny - excellent news about your OH, hope you get yourself sorted soon now

rainmac - lovely cards again, those basic grey papers are so gorgeous, well done

has anyone ever used silicone glue? I was watching QVC recently and Darn bibby was demonstrating it, I was thinking about maybe getting some as I find it hard to line up decoupage easily, and with using foam pads once they're stuck theyre stuck! does anyone here have any experience with silicone glue?
