Tigzem - Yep, just post a picture, we don't choose the best one, just admire what everyone else has done.

    Cool, sounds great! xx

  • Great card Gemma - I love the colours. :T
I find it really hard to get nice card - hobbycraft is just so expensive and nearest papermill is about 70 miles away.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

I made a valentine's day card at the weekend as I knew I wouldn't get a chance otherwise as we are off on holiday hopefully tomorrow (CAN EVERYONE PLEASE KEEP THEIR FINGERS ETC CROSSED, SAY A PRAYER, A CHANT, CAST A SPELL ETC ETC THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO FLY and get to the airport!! Cab company haven't answered phone all day!)

    Anyway here it is

    DSC07845-1.jpg

It's made with velum (attached wit 2 little pink brads) with a heart (from a kind MSE'r) and 3 buttons ted with red wool/thread (from my 2nd hand shop find in a big tin!) pink gingham card (from same kind MSEr) white card with valentines verse printed from internet complete with heart punch out (don't like it now but never mind!) and a pink brad. Looks a bit girlie but hopefully DH will like it!! Will let you know!!

Thanks for all your kind comments re my card!

jailhouse babe - I've just discovered that my nearest papermill is about a 50 minute drive away and I am seriously considering a trip at the weekend.

I need more variation in my card colours. my local craft shop only tends to stock sheets of coloured card in larger square sheets for about 50p each, so to fill an a4 box for around £6 sounds great and worth the trip! :)

furrypig - I will keep everything crossed for you! cute card, I love the verse :)

The paper mill shop is worth a trip, never been to one before but went to 2 yesterday - 1 was 70 miles away took 1 1/2 hr to get there and the second was only 15 minutes from the first, seemed silly not to go to both and I have a very tolerant OH and 2 kids - filled my box will about 90 sheets of card, and the cost of a box is £4.99. They had bargins in both, so spent £10 in each and was like a kid in a sweet shop!:D
2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000

your OH and kids are certainly very patient CT19720! I could spend ages in a craft shop (and frequently do lol) just looking and wishing and wanting everything I see, with my DH waiting in the car where he can listen to the radio! ;)

90 sheets of A4 sounds like a great deal for £4.99, is it just plain card or do they also have patterned? what kind of quality/thickness?

sorry for the barrage of questions, I am getting quite excited and think I've now made my mind up to go ASAP, especially as I just got paid :D

    Hi Gemm85

It is just plain card, but some of it is textured or pearlised if that is what you want. Loads and loads of different colours and you can choose from A4 card, A4 paper; and C4 card (think that is what it is called - its half a sheet of A4). As for the thickness, I'm not sure what it is, but the stuff I picked up is the same as I would have bought in our local craft shop - thick enough to stand up properly when you have made a card. Have fun in there - they also have sale items and if you are after embellishments then they had loads for 3 for 2, and luckly it was all the stuff I wanted:D , so feel I got a bargin.

Was going to make some cards today as we are snowed in - 8" last night. Didn't manage to do any as the kids got in the way - their schools were closed and are for tomorrow too so spent most of the day snowball fighting and making a snowman.

Our cat couldn't decide whether to brave the snow or not!

I was just about to give my stash to a friend of mine who is a childminder as I simply can't be bothered anymore. As I was going through my stash I realised I have so much lovely stuff that I have to make some cards and promptly made one.

  • Brilliant cards everyone!

Fingers and everything crossed furrypig - I thought it was Mickey Mouse ears that you had cut out of your card in view of your destination :o.

I made OH's birthday card earlier with a (IMO) slightly cross eyed penguin on but photobucket hates me and I can't get logged in to post it.

I [strike]shamelessly stole[/strike] based the idea on page 76 of this months do crafts mag but used blue papers - and for once I cut squares with ease - I love my guillotine almost as much as my cuttlebug :o
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p
