Good about time they coughed up.

Ask the bank who paid the £40 in to your account.

Sorry for being dim but I don't understand what you mean. If he's paid money into your account via a bank transfer then it will show as a credit, if *you* wrote out a cheque it would show as a debit. If there is both a credit, then a debit showing then it means the payment has gone in and then been recalled, which means you have NOT received payment.

Log into your paypal and then into the tab at the top that says 'profile'. In profile there is a column that says account information, the last option on there is to close account. Remember though that paypal works the same as any bank or credit card company in that if there is a 'call' on the account at any time in the future, closed or not, you are still liable.

Also it is worth remembering that contrary to rumour no one can steal your paypal or ebay account unless you compromise your security in some way.

I did transfer the money to my bank account straight away, yet, the chargeback went through and now my paypal account shows -223 and they said if I dont balance it within 120days they will close my account.

Would closing your paypal account yourself stop anyone from claiming a chargeback?

Not to the best of my knowledge . I think Paypal would just chase you for the monies owed,

Possibly there wont be then two burly blokes with no hair will turn up on your door step. Cheers Soolin

Well apart from the two burly guys :p , it's like Jaffa says. Paypal will chase you for the money and put the debt in the hands of a debt collector. Whilst they may not actually send the bailiffs in they will add the debt to your credit rating records.
