    Hi Chuffy
The simple answer is yes, your ADSL modem/router will become redundant when you go cable. Given you've only got 7 weeks left, I'd wait.

What you need is a broadband router, sometimes described confusingly as a DSL router (note no "modem"). This will generally have a WAN port and 4 LAN ports. You plug your WAN port into the settop box or the cable modem then your computer(s) into the LAN.

Your best bet is something like this: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/852034

but obviously in true moneysaving style, shop around a bit for the cheapest! :D Personally I've gone with the Belkin Pre N solution.

They are instore at £59.99 with a USB adapter as well - are they worth this? - I have heard there is a leaflet for 10% off if you buy wireless networking products. Does anyone know if these are still floating around?

They are worth it but will you need the usb freebie? The vouchers were in a pre Christmas glossy free PCW magazine there may sill be some behind the counters.

This Belkin may suit you , for £38.49 at play delivered

If Chuffy does not need a seperate USB adapter then this is an excellent deal IMHO. If he does then the PCWorld deal is slightly better since not only does it include an adapter but runs at 125Mb/s. For those non-techies out there, this means in theory it runs twice as fast. In practice however, its anyone's guess!

This is the one I have just purchased from PCWORLD, £40.15 when bought on the website & collected in store. Yes it's £1.66 more, but no hassle having to wait for it to be delivered, & if there's any problems you can simply return it to the store. It's also got a lifetime warranty.
It's a very good unit, very easy to setup.
    Next year we'll be millionaires!

Yep, that would work. Good price too. You might find it a few quid cheaper but Derek says, you can get it from the shop and take it back if it doesn't work.

Yes I have had that one nearly a couple of years now. The double aerial is an advantage, some of the later ones come with 3 aerials. I always check out PCW website as their prices are good, easy to collect instore for me too.
If you are after a dvd writer they also have oem LG 4156 multidrives for £34, in the component shop.

Further if you go for the play.com offer they have the latest Pioneer 110 dvd writer which like the lg does ram too, for £29.99 delivered.

Went in and collected the router - it is the wrong picture on site. Definately the F5D7230uk4 not the F5D7231uk4 (2 aerials and 125Mbps not 54Mbps).
