  • Geez, you would think that some people were born well behaved adults!!

I travel with my son who is 2 years and 3 months and whilst he may have a slight whinge when first asked to sit down, he soon ends up fast asleep. We have often been told by fellow passengers how well behaved he is, but i can admit to noticing the panic in some of the same peoples faces when we take our seats in the area they are in at first. We have done 6 long haul flights of over 14 hours each with him and 3 short haul and he has yet to be a problem.

I do believe that children pick up on stressful situations and many parents board the flight thinking oh my god what if they play up, what if they annoy people and the child senses something is not right and becomes nervy themselves. I see it myself this way, i have paid for him to be on the flight, i have prepared for it to the best of my ability with toys, colouring books etc
He has just as much right to be there as anyone else on that flight. If he or another child is upset then, they are just children it is what they do. Infact sometimes adults get upset, scared and bored as well, shock horror.

Now older children who are just badly behaved are a different story. I will however save judgement until my son is old enough for me to find out how he behaves at that point.
    :naughty:
  • Why all the fuss - we adults are paying through the nose for all of the so called FREE CHILD SEATS - why should we pay again, if you want to take your child away you should be prepered to paY - YOU EXPECT A SEAT......................PAY FOR IT and control your children.
  • Um, any child over two has to have a paid for seat. If I recall correctly.

    Be quiet you fool.
  • Children over 2 do have to pay for a seat, but just for the record i have paid for a seat for my son since he was too big for the bassinette. Oh and even if he was in the bassinette i still paid quite a considerable amount for him. I have also never been on a holiday where free seats apply, not that it would matter if i had.

Jog on, because i can assure you i would rather sit next to a child on a flight than someone with your attitude.

babies will cry and scream and mothers will do their best to stop it, i have no problem with that , if the little "un" decides to wail and ignore mother then thats life.

but after watching one father clutch baby with one arm and book in another while it screamed to it was literally bright red in the face without a pause in the reading made my blood boil, and then you get the mothers who glare at anyone who dares look at baby crying.

baby screaming and sod anyone else, we are used to it and we are not going to walk him/her up the asile just to keep anyone else happy and glare instead has been noticed by me more than once
  • we travelled with my daughter aged 4 months to greece in september and she was golden and didnt cry at all either on the plane, at the airport or on the 3 hour coach transfer, the only problem was people wanting to fuss her!
thankfully i am blessed with a perfect baby(at the minute!:p ) however my son aged 2 was a bit of a nightmare wanting to swap and climb on seats but oh managed to keep him under control for the full journey. one other baby did cry for the entire journey so bet the mom was ready for a breakdown but i had nothing but compliments from people on the way there and back saying how well behaved my kids were.:T

I wouldnt want to go any transport myself if my kids were evil though lol or sit next to other monster children but thats what travelling is about, my worst nightmare personally is sitting next to someone vastly over weight who was squishing me for the whole journey (or between two! )but i think the suggextion to be able to be placed next to only slim lined people wouldnt go down too well would it:rolleyes:
i dont think paying 10 quid or whatever would really work as if it affects you so much than even if a kid was crying at the front of the plane it would still annoy you and no doubt you would spend the next year in a legal battle trying to get your tenner back:rolleyes:
maybe adult only flights would work but i think they would be vastly overpriced so cant see it happening in reality,

When we lived in South Africa and the children were small we normally booked a night time flight and gave them a big dose of Calpol made life so much easier.

i also kind of agree with this...you do hear a lot about "child places are free"...so why are you saying all children have to be paid for..my grandkids went for free last year...so it is the adults who subsidse this surely?

they are taking a seat on the plane..why shouldnt you pay full price for that child?? i dont get it:confused: if i sat on seat it would be full adult price if child sits there its free or half price? why?.same seat, same journey, same fuel, especially when your a small size 8(which i hasten im not:o !)and there is an obese fat kid sat there using more fuel!!
