Aircraft and babies

  • I would rather sit next to a baby on a long haul than a fat git whose b*m and torso seep into my seat. Should be a airline law that fat people pay for 2 seats.
  • Having flown with a baby who did nothing but cry for 2.5 hours, no matter what I did to try to soothe her, sometimes babies do just cry, and despite, feeding, changing, and cuddling there is nothing that you can do to stop them...so pleased don't be too hard or judgmental on the poor parents, who are suffering too.....

Well said - we just about to go to NZ with a 15 month old - yikes :j
  • We first flew with our son when he was 5 months old. He was happy and laughing the whole time. People complain about kids being on planes and various places but if they never travel how are they going to get used to it/ learn to behave.

However I don't think that adult only flights is an enitelry bad idea my husband and I recenlty went away without our son for the first time and had a screaming baby bedide us. Whilst feeling sympathetic to the mum we really did not want that when we were trying to relax away from our own baby
  • I would pay extra for a child-free flight; flying isn't my favourite form of transport and I don't need the extra stress!

Yes, I'd gladly pay. After a child of about two decided he didn't want his dinner and threw it over his head, only to land in my lap!!!! Ended up looking and smelling foul! What did the parents do....apologise, shout loudly at little son and then burst out laughing... a fine example.

One incident would really be enough for you to opt to pay extra in future (if you could)

What if there had been turbulence and you had spilt your dinner on yourself? Would you have refused to fly that airline again?

I'd gladly pay the fee for my children to sit away from moanie minnies, such as the miserable old lady who complained about my noisy child in the doctors this morning.

She's 18 months old and she was giggling at a toy elephant I was playing peep-po with to fill in time as the doctor was running late.
Here I go again on my own....
  • My neighbour flew to Tunisia with her 3 and 6 year old daughters. Upon her return she told me how furious she was that the man sat in front had complained about her 3 year old kicking his seat. She told me that she'd followed him through security when boarding and had seen his clear bag filled with prescription tablets, and he'd told her that he suffered from back problems. Her response? Don't fly then!

She really could not see what the problem was, and believes that its natural for children for children to kick/scream and generally do whatever they please (which is why I only visit when I know they're in bed or at school).

I'll put up with a crying baby on a plane, but I'd happily pay extra to avoid parents like that!
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)
  • It's a shame so many people take hand luggage onto flights. There's a much better use for those overhead bins.......................... ;):p

I wonder if the racket made by infants exceeds health and safety limits perhaps a silencer could be placed over their heads to reduce the decibel level.
