I have flipped through your thread & notice you have a suspicious person trying to stake a claim.

Have you had the puppy microchipped? I would be tempted to do this - you can always reassign it if the genuine owner comes forward. I would also make sure you get proof of address from anyone before you hand him over.

I would be very cautious that this person does not try to 'take' your puppy.

you have done a really nice thing by taking the puppy in.

  • Roxy's two, she came from an animal recue, we adore her!!!!

  • Roxy is lovely - and very much like Ben - having seen the photos I would be very dubious if ayone came forwards with just a photo as claim of ownership of Ben, - if someone showed me a photo of Roxy and claimed it was Ben I couldnt be sure they were not the same dog!!

My dog can look quite different in diferent photos - in some she looks very collie, in others less so and more like a JRT or corgi!

It would be hard for ayone to prove ownership of Ben, especially when he is not microchipped or with any unique distinguishing featured (unusual markings, scars etc) - as ajaney says I would be tempted to microchip him.

I also have to say I am a little concerned about how commited his last owners were - overgrown claws (so probably walked very little), underweight, not chipped or neutered, no collar or ID tags (which are actually a legal requirement), not reliably housetrained at a year old. This also makes me wonder if he was dumped.

I think the fellow who has rung up may not be telling the truth and just fancies getting a free dog.

If he is with you much longer I would also look at getting him vaccinated and neutered.
  • Any news about Ben.....?

He is doing great. He is in the create now and very few accidents.
He have decided that we shall cancel of xmas holiday to stay home with him.
He is family now and I don't want him to go through any more change.
Ive not heard back from that bloke so I guess he was just trying his luck.
So far have had about 5-6 calls from people saying that its not their dog but that they would like to re-home him. I have had to politely decline all.
