PS: Are you one of the mystery soothsayers who voted in the 2nd email poll? :D

I was so maybe that will teach me a lesson to be such a rebel as it looks like it's now going to come back and bite me on the bum :o

monkeydog has already said that they've received their money. To be fair, monkeydog makes a good point. It does seem that you were happy to get it by Christmas, but are now annoyed because someone has got it before you - even though it looks like you'll have it by the end of November. Without wishing to call you 'childish'.......

I'll ask again - how would it have been fairer to arrange the queue? (apart from you at the front, which is seemingly the only fair way in your eyes)

it is entirely reasonable to be annoyed at some people receiving preferential treatment.

i keep seeing praises being heaped on the FSCS - why?
they are doing their job to a degree, albeit VERY badly.

I'm still awaiting my second email. We are 4 days in to the 15 working day period, so still plenty of time yet, but I'm still getting annoyed. I had my first email last Tuesday and thought the queue might be in the same order for the second email but obviously not.

I think the random nature of the 2nd email is a bit unfair. It might have been fairer to base it on something like length of account held (from oldest one if more than one) or larger deposits first (a lot more interest at stake).

Can I just say thanks to this forum and all the people that have been posting here since the Icesave problem started?
I just think that it would have been much much worse to go through this process alone, without really knowing what was really happening and having to rely on checking the fscs site daily...

It may seem silly, but knowing that there are so many going through the same problems as me makes me feel that it's not so bad...

  • I know what you mean scarlet. sometimes things appear on these threads that you didn't know about and sometimes people give advice on the best way to do things
  • First email received on 4/11 at 23.51pm. No 2nd one yet. Am quite relaxed about things as we have a £33K fixed rate bond and, for us, it is a no brainer to leave it alone and continue to get the rate at which it was fixed as there is nothing around now to beat it. Hasten to add we KNOW we are fortunate to be relaxed about our circumstances, the folks who are/were dependant on monthly interest/house purchases etc our sincerest best wishes.

I'm a talktalk user and only got the first email after talktalk fixed the problem and I sent a blank email on Monday (I believe) today I get 2 emails unsoloicited from FSCS of course initially I think they are the second emails for my wife and myself !!!!! - but they are the first emails again - I guess to check that talktalk users can receive emails from them. Have other talktalk users received the first email again ????

The problem with what is happening, is not whether A has already got it, B hasent.

The problem is the loss of access to funds to reinvest/spend, and the loss of return on the investment in Icesave. Everyone must understand that Icesave was a bank which was fully licenced to accept deposits. If anyone in authority knew of its inability to pay back, they should have revoked the licence.

The other problem is, the loss of return, whilst FSCS goes through the mammoth task of making payments. It is only fair to require the FSCS to make interest payments until repayment is made to a saver. It should give them a powerful incentive to move quickly. Without this incentive to complete as fast as possible, the process could drag on for a long time. From this point of view, KE/ING was a lot fairer. Even now, there are many KE/ING savers who still have not received their savings. Atleast theyre being paid interest. We are not.

....as repeated ad finitum, B will get B's money a lot faster than B really had a right to expect. Next week, when B jumps from the ranks to the Have Nots to the Haves, B will be very grateful to F. Just like A is.

If it wasn't for the excellent work of F, B would have had to wait maybe a year without interest. Anything better than that is a bonus for B, not a cause for complaint.
