Nilrem, seriously, could you please start it? Nilrem's Reunited (as Suesie suggested). Everyone would contribute, I am sure of that.
Personally, I had quite a few accounts set up in readiness for the Icesave cash; then I withdrew money to feed a few fixed rate accounts, and finally sent off a form and cheque for Kent Reliance 2 Year Fixed Rate Bond yesterday. I will leave a bit in some variable rate accounts (AA looks ok at 6.28% but I'm sure the rate will go down, and NATWest have 6% (including bonus)).
Some people seem quite cagey about declaring their financial dealings. Personally, I am not bothered. The more information people give, the better. I would not have known about the Close Brothers 7% bond if I had not read about it on MSE..
Yes I agree with Olivia, and am happy to share info..........even with the little warning I had re Icesave, it wasnt soon enough as they pulled back the money......so more notice on impending doom woudl be good!! but in these uncertain times on where to invest it would be invaluable. I think we have all "bonded" enough and shared a lot so far and it can only be for the good..............;)"Serious money saving Diva"........................................:p

Just clocking in.
Good to see the looms are still spinning.0 -
Blimey just imagine being involved in more than one bank collapse!
Well I have a bond with Anglo-Irish maturing June 2009 and judging by their share collapse over the last few months that thought had crossed my mind.
Did anyone see the letter to Telegraph's Editor this morning suggesting FSCS should be put in charge of country's finances ? God forbid. The writer said that it had kept him informed all the time and acted exactly as it advised. I am waiting to see whether there is a riposte to this. Cannot let him get away with that.
By the way, think the idea of Nilrem's Veterans thread really good and am also happy to second Olivia's suggestion to exchange of ideas about where to put savings in these troubled times.0 -
Shall we all jump onto the new thread, and wait for someone to direct it else where. I'm sure some one wil tell us to bog off else where!
Done it , I have jumped!!!!:j"Serious money saving Diva"........................................:p

It would be nice if we had a thread where people who were 'stung' in the icesave fiasco could in one place discuss all sorts of issues related to savings and perhaps give each other any pointers or warnings in the future so we can hopefully be more prepared and hence avoid any more savings related scares; if perish the though any should occur in the near future!
For example I have savings hopefully on their way to NatWest and as yet am not sure where to put the cash, it would be interesting to hear what others are doing with theirs.
That's a bit rich coming from you isn't it? When people WERE warning about Icesave you were one of the group of people telling them to stop panicking and calling them headless chickens, lemmings etc. Do you remember that?0
