I am still here guys, sorry but very down today...I am sure that i speak for all those of us who are still waitign when I say ( pardon my french!) that I am totally and utterly F****d off with this whole thing. I have spent so much time onlin waiting and checking at a time when i should be doing other things...the stress is really getting to me and I am not too ashamed to say that the call I had today with FSCS ealrier, really upset me. I am trying to stay positive and take hope from what others have posted, so thanks so much once again...............
Suesie cheer up love, it will come but not easy to wait especially if you need the dosh now.
I just got in after a pleasant evening with friends, well-chilled, and logged on to my hotmail account, not expecting anything as per usual. To my surprise, there it was, together with the other FSCS email referred to elsewhere, so have just spent the last half-hour initiating the claims, some fixed rate terms (to keep), the other an ISA for transfer (for which await FSCS paperwork).
For what it's worth, I had used my talktalk account and following advice here changed it to my hotmail account on 10th November, which got a prompt auto-response. Just to make sure I sent it twice more and got 2 more responses! 2nd email was received at 11.42am, 25th November, i.e.15 days later.
Hope this log of events will help you and others.
Big hug and xxx, good luck to all.0 -
Folks can I just say don't build you hopes up about the date item i.e. noticing today's date at the bottom of your statement, I believe that it changes every day anyway, I just looked back and I printed my details out on 9/11/2008 and it shows that date at the bottom of the statement so I don't think we can draw too much from it, however if we log in tomorrow and it shows todays date i.e 25th then that is a possibility of action, but if the date is 26th on the statement tomorrow then I don't think we can draw anything from the statement date.
Sorry to be a kiljoy but I don't want to build peoples hopes up too much to see them disappointed.0 -

Think I was foolish to think I could just go cold turkey, especially at such a stressful time
Let's hope and pray that the stress will be over for all of us tomorrow and those still waiting will finally be able to initiate their claims. I think there's something in this date thing on the accounts as I noticed mine said processed on 24/11/08 today too, so fingers crossed for everyone tomorrow :j :A
Well done you! :j I've not managed to give up the ciggies and this is not the right thread to discuss, but I have just got some e-cigs and they do work (if you are not involved in Icesave!)
Apologies if this infringes (sp?) on the thread, and I am not promoting in any way0 -
Dispatches, Sir:
Relieved, yet also somewhat numb at having received 2nd email and initiated the transfer. Fingers crossed it arrives. I should feel happier but I guess i am emotionally drained because of the stress of the last 7 weeks.
GAINS and LOSSES
1) Loss of Time
2) Loss of accrued interest
3) Loss of health (yes, it has taken its toll on me)
4) Gained insight into managing savings that those who had not been through this debacle would not have done
5) Gained - must trust in my own revised judgemnt in future and not base decisions on best buy tables.
There are probably other categories to mention but the best GAIN of all is the comradeship and support of all you guys without which I would have been tearing my hair out. Bless you all.
This does not mean I will leave. Oh no- I will be here regularly and unfortunately you will just have to put up with me. I want to see all the rest get their deposits back too.
PS- It's not the end for my wife. She is unable to claim online due to her ISA being in limbo. She had transferred to Bradford & Bingley on 17th September and they sat on the cheque from Icesave for weeks until when they finally presented it, it was dishonoured and returned to her. The ISA account does not show up when she logs on as it was closed on the transfer date. So it's a nail-biting paper based finale for her.
See you guys tomorrow. Best of luck.
PS- sorry, no kudos for the FSCS from this direction. Happy to help me indeed!0 -
good luck for your wifey.
man that is rough - 3 weeks before the meltdown and still she's been caught up in it.
will keep y'all updated and hope to get my 2nd email today0 -

Great stuff!!!
I actually watered my money tree at lunch time yesterday as it was looking a bit parched. You reckon that's why so many of us got our emails yesterday? :rotfl:
Think I'll give it a little feed today and see if that does the trick for everyone else“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Have checked my account today and it still says 25th, like it did last night. I did it after close of play last night, so not building my hopes up too much, but at least it's giving me a little glimmer! Still the "bog off" message when I click initiate though.0

Just an early morning check. Hope things move today as much as yesterday for everyone.0
