I hope you are right. I do have a linked account but I also had to send a blank email to initiate my first email.
I am not feeling positive, though Stormy also had to send a blank email and he has initiated his claim.
I just don't want the hassle to be honest of having to go down the route of a paper claim
The first emails were irrelevant (apart from the concern they caused people). The first emails were sent both to those with a linked account and to the 16,000 without linked accounts. If the first emails had only be sent to those who could use the electronic process then you would be right to worry; but they weren't.
Of course you are going to worry and think you've been missed off the radar, wouldn't we all in your position. But I genuinely think you will be fine and be able to use the electronic process.
There are plenty of reports like that of Stormy where there was no first email but there was a second email.MSE. Abandon hope all ye who enter here0 -
As was mentioned earlier, some of the comments abou tus by people on moneysupermarket are hilarious. They have to get somebody who is brave enough to even take a look at our forums.
I think when we are much happier we should invade the wimps en masse.0 -

The first to say how remarkably wondrous are the FSCS and how fast, how efficient, how pleasant to do business with etc etc
Gets a bullet in the back !0 -
I've just received an email from the FSCS. It's NOT the second email but one that suggests that, once a day, I try logging into my Icesave account to see if I can initiate the compensation. I.E. They're suggesting what most of us have been doing anyway! The also provided a link to a copy of the second email which is http://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/icesave_invitation_email/ They blame the second email not getting through sometimes due to spam, but then how come they think this email would not be filtered in the same way
So, at least the "try pressing the button" is now officially sanctioned! :rolleyes:0 -

Probably some IT junior has managed to flag all remaining accounts as active and they don't know how to slow things down, so this message would be saving face?0 -

Any chance you could post the text of the email from the FSCS suggesting you just try initiating from time to time? Might help others. Obviously remove any personal details.

OK, this is it:
Over 100,000 second emails inviting people to log on to the Icesave website to make their claim have now been sent. If you have completed the process already, please ignore this email.
For customers who did not receive our first email in the initial mailing, and only received it by emailing our special email address or have still not received it, we have some additional advice.
Batches have now been released which include second emails for some of you. These are much less likely to be held in spam filters than the first email. However, in case they are, we suggest that you check your account online once a day at a similar time to see whether your account can be initiated. If it can, this would indicate that your second email has been sent but you have not yet received it.
If you find you can initiate the process, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible, having read the copy of the second email, which can now be viewed on our website at the following address: https://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/icesave_invitation_email. To go directly to the instructions, you can copy https://www.fscs.org.uk/consumer/icesave_invitation_email into the address line of your web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer).
If you cannot initiate the process, you can check again daily until your second email arrives or you find you can activate the process, whichever comes earlier.
Kindly note that, to avoid congestion in the system, which will slow the process for you and others, we are still discouraging those who received the first email without difficulty from attempting to initiate before receiving the second email.
If you experience any difficulties with the process, please seek assistance by calling Icesave’s Customer Services Helpline on 0845 605 6050.
For those of you who are still waiting, we recognise that you are anxious to complete the process. We would like to assure you that your money is safe, and that we are committed to ensuring that you receive your compensation as soon as possible. We remain on track to offer the vast majority of Icesave customers the opportunity to claim their compensation in November.
Please check our website regularly for further updates.
Yours faithfully
