  • 2nd e-mail arrived, initiated and confirmed on 19th Nov. Money arrived today, 25th November.

This is truly not to gloat. Just thought it might help with planning to know how long the money takes to come through.

Still with you as part of support team.

Still no 2nd e-mail for either of us and now I can't even log onto Icesave to see if Initiate works as site seems to be too busy

What to do with ISA when it finally arrives.

I've been debating this with myself over the last few weeks.

Initially attracted to NAT West when at 7.32 % but of course rate now dropped. Also had NR 6% fixed in mind, lost that one too. Then had idea of just allowing it go into a smile ISA as my linked account to Icesave is with smile, rate was 4.25% thought it would be less hassle that way, and could always move to a better rate later. Then had e-mail rate on smile isa now 2.75%.

Now considering NR fixed rate again, even phoned NR to see if they knew about Icesave ISA. Spoke to knowledgeable rep who said all I'd need to do is send a personal cheque together with ISA certificate, application form and transfer form, just putting Icesave compensation as the current ISA.

I asked if I could open an account today as I'd missed out on the 6% but was told I could only open with a deposit, either the Icesave transfer or a payment from this years subscription, which I can't do as I've subscribed my 3600 already to the Icesave ISA.

Also advised to send off application as soon as I receive compensation as account could be pulled anytime GRRRRR....

The other big question which fixed rate to go for 1year at 4.8% 3 Years at 4.9% or 5 years at 5%. I'm leaning towards 4.9% for 3 years.... trying to second guess rates will be low for the next couple of years, but hoping things will improve by 5 years.

    Any thoughts?

Well done to everyone who has been able to access their money just now. I truly cannot comprehend what it must feel like.
