I caved and ate two :o nets of chocolate coins last night. [Call it a certain time of month craving]. I'm annoyed at myself now :rotfl: Still four more to go, I refuse to be weak and eat them :rotfl: Will replace and get more soon :) Good luck everyone else ;)

LOL I have hidden mine away. Unfortunately that means I know where they are! I shall be strong. I hope. i have lots of the £1 Thorntons easter eggs coming to melt down to make chocolate slabs for hampers - really I should do this straight away cos I'm unlikely to eat the slabs I've made (but might well eat an egg!), but I'm not sure if they will still be at their best if I make them so early.

:rotfl: That's the only problem, hiding them - but knowing where they are :rotfl:

  • Tesco are selling gold star bowls for £2 for 4 at the moment, sorry can't find an online picture of them but there are about 4" maybe 5" across. They are with the disposable party tableware. It actually says on price lable pack of 6 but there are only 4 in each pack. Might be good for pots of gold :D

I've got two 151g boxes of Mini Cadbury Wishes sitting looking at me.......finding it hard to resist, but if I try one that will be it. That's why I don't buy my chocolates until Christmas week I cannot be trusted....which means making Pots of Gold at the last minute !

My daughter got me 2 boxes with her online Mr T order yesterday. They'll be staying at her house for a few weeks yet otherwise I won't be able to resist them! :rotfl:

Typical that this is the first year I decide to make pots of gold and can I find anything gold?!
I was hoping to get mini glitter gold notebooks from the poundshops but they don't have them. Nor any pencils or pens.
Every other time I've seen them in there but when I want them NOOOOO!!
I did manage to get 5 jumbo pencils for a pound though :-) I had to open other packets as they were mix'n'match colours and I only wanted gold.....I just have to figure how to have them poking out of the wrapping now :-/

Wilkinsons at the moment have (intended for Halloween) small black plastic cauldrens for 80p (although have a tag on saing £1.28). To give you an idea of size they would probably just hold a pint of liquid. (Cant think of any other way to describe this!). I have bought one to make a pot of gold for my mum which will be filled with werthers (her fave) and topped with two pound coins and some lotter tickets. I think the cauldren will make it look more like a traditional 'crock of gold'. Probably not that festive but a good all year rounder! lol
I have also been considering the black couldrons from Wilkinsons.
Im debating holding out until after halloween to see if i can pick them up reduced... or whether i should grab them now just in case? Opinions?
Ive never made these before and have almost everything sorted already so im just making 3 this year.
    I already have gold coins.
I wonder if you can spray the black plastic couldrons antique gold?
where does one find spray paint?

B&Q and Homebase also stock gold spray paint.
I don't have a Wilkinsons anywhere near me but the cauldron idea sounds a good one.

Picked up 2 from Asda's today, a pound each and they are big! For the want of another size example, think of a more rounded pointy policemans hat. Good for padding with some gold lametta stuff to add space.

If you're interested I'd get then pretty quick as apparently they fly out when they come in and it's unlikely there'll be any left after Halloween (in Grimsby anyway).

Just had a thought whilst making the tea with our free samples staring at me....

    http://www.yorkshiretea.co.uk/#/friends_of_yorkshire_tea/register_and_win

If you join the Friends Of Yorkshire Tea as above, you can apply for 10 samples a year. One of the samples is Yorkshire Tea Gold.

Perfect for pots of gold for padding out or in place of a scratch card (or for tea hampers :))

(You can also get other varieties like decaff etc)
