Hi all
I love this thread (spent all last night going through it all!) and am keen to make some pots this year.
Just wanted to add some ideas I came up with:
*Chinese fortune cookies sometimes come wrapped in gold foil packaging. I got a bag of 14 for 99p from a local chinese supermarket. A good alternative to scratchcards for children.
*I was thinking of some mini bubbles for children, I'm sure I remember seeing some gold packaged ones when looking for wedding favours.
*Am hoping to get some mini gold glitter notebooks and pencils - you can never go wrong with crafty stuff!0 -
Here are ones my son & I made last year. I bought the gold baskets at the pound shop.
This one is in a beer glass - for the boysSmiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...
..one size fits all... and nobody minds if you give it back.☆.。.:*・° Housework is so much easier without the clutter ☆.。.:*・°SPC No. 5180 -
For anyone looking for a container for their pots of gold Tesco do a pack of 4 star shaped gold containers for £2.00. Cannot find them on their website but in store they are with all the disposable plates and cups.0

Brilliant idea! I don't have a Chinese supermarket anywhere near me but this seller has some in differing amounts and also sells ribbons, bows, organza etc

Just done my Tesco online grocery shop (before the double points end
) Noticed they have Cadbury's Wishes Gift Packs 151g, 14 in the box....look to be mini ones, but they will be great in my Pots of Gold and better than paying 50p each especially when I need 16 for the Christmas table and then more for teachers etc. I'll let you know what they are like after my order gets delivered tomorrow teatime. Just found the link below to view them !

Tesco's order has arrived and the mini Cadbury's Wishes are nice and dinky...measuring approx 2¼" x 3¼" .....at the moment trying to resist the taste testGrrrrrrrrrrrr...........they forgot to attach my pan coupons and the offer is finishing at the weekend !!!

Ikea have silver pails in the pot plants section which can be spray painted gold.
They are a bit big though, so only use for close friends and family, not teachers and the like, or fill the bottom with gold paper to take up a bit of the space:

You could also buy little glass dishes and line them with gold tissue paper. I'm going to do that for school teachers this year.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

Wilko have 6 glass dishes in a pack for £2. I used them last year, lined with gold tissue paper. They are not too big and I managed to get chocolate money, a Cadbury's Wish, a mini Crunchie, 2 Ferrero Rochas, some Werthers & some Asda eclairs, a gold wrapped chocolate biscuit (can't remember the name) and a scratchcard in them. Looked good (if I say so myself
) and they went down a treat.
