Hi, They look fab. Can I ask where you got the gold holders from - are they candle holders by any chance?? Thinking of pinching the idea for xmas table instead of buying crackers.

    Thanks

Can I ask, what is everyone putting as poems for gift tags for their post of gold? I'm thinkingg of doing a special one for my FIL as his Christmas present (with a special gold treat hidden among the coins and scratchcards)

    Thanks!

This is the poem I attached to mine with a little picture of a pot of gold :
    Pot of Gold
Here’s a little pot of gold,
    A festive nibble too,
I hope that it will make,
All of your dreams come true,
    Have a very Merry Christmas,

I know - its a 2 minute drive from my workplace so i often pop in on a lunchtime - I hate the way its laid out though I always feel like a mouse in some kind of experiment in there! :rotfl:
Good luck with your pots today, I would be delighted to receive one I think they are brill, but... have you ever thought what would happen if you gave a winning ticket away - say someone won £100,000 !! I would be a bit gutted if I was honest :rotfl:

Yes that thought crossed my mind too lol. Might include a little contract where the fine print says that if there are any winnings then they have to split them 50/50 between the giver and receiver :rotfl:

I know what you mean it is quite poorly laid out! I love ikea though so it makes it worth it ... You think our ikea is bad you should go to the one in coventry, I went on opening day last year and it was shocking ... there is about 6 or 7 different floors and you have to walk around all of them to finally get back out :rotfl:

If I gave a winning ticket away then I would expect a nice substantial gift from them next year :rotfl:

    Hello folks

I'm new on this board/thread this year. What wonderful ideas you've all been having!

I was thinking that I could do some of these myself.

My thought was to look for some pretty glass sundae dishes in the charity shops and give them a good wash with vinegar in the water, to make them really sparkle before filling them.

By the way, Kandipandi - loved the little poem :D.
  • Just a quick post to say i come across some cheap bowls suitable for pots of gold today in Morrisons.

Set of 4 glass dessert bowls, just the right size for this kind of thing - £1

hi are the pots from ikea? sorry if you have said so somewhere but I can't find it, they look the perfect size.
  • Has anyone any idea what to put in my mums pot of gold? She got hypnotised a few years ago to stop her eating chocolate and now she is sick if even the slightest taste of cocoa passes her lips. It's a flamin' nuisance at this time of year, especially when trying to plan desserts for christmas day as everyone else wants something with chocolate in it. :D I've bought some werthers originals and the lotto card but haven't got anything else for her one.
