  • Thank you all, if I could remember how to do the quote thing I would

Lulu/George - I have done a full SOA Im just a bit hesitant of putting it on here at the moment in case I have to justify anything :o although I have fessed up to what we are not sacrificing I suppose. Most of my cards are 0%, Egg has just finished and I have got to wait for the current offers to end on Mint and A&L and will then probably transfer the Egg balance to there, and then I am hopefully back on fixed or 0% cards. I have used the snowball calculator for a while but never shared it with DH who is now obsessed, thank the lord! It has made him think that the £20 we pay a babysitter could cut months off our DFD if it was a regular payment and so it has definately changed his perspective of things.

IWTBF - I am the same as you re wanting to pay the cards off first - it is my personal option as I feel those hold me down more than the mortgage. DH's view is that when our fixed rate ends we will have needed to pay more off the mortgage so we can get a new one incase the market doesn't recover - my argument is if we don't clear the CC debts we won't get a mortgage!! The CC debts could go in 4yrs 9 months with £1300 thrown at them, and then after that we could put that towards the mortgage and clear that within 4yrs 3 mnths - will need to think about this, will go and look at the calculator although I did snowball it last night and was horrified how much interest we pay every month.

Thank you for not all saying told you so, have just put the fire on as part of my new action plan :)

  • It must be really hard, is that the friend who you told us about before?

I'm a bit 'blah' at the moment, but plodding along.

Have you done any running lately?

Yes it was her, just happened really quickly in the end and hit me like a brick wall, never known anything like it :( The counsellor is helping me a lot though, just odd her not being here to talk to ...................

I did keep the running up until a few weeks ago and then just knackered with kids, work, life etc but went out this week and going again tonight. I'm also in FLM and got a half to train for so think throwing myself back in to that will be good and cheap and really clears my head. I have a bit of weight to lose too, how does it just creep up and then takes months to shift

    Hope your "blah" improves....

Just sat waiting to pick DS up, first day at School

Welcome back! Great to hear you and your OH are dealing with this together. I'm sure you'll have many happy hours together over the snowball calculator!

It sounds as if you've got some good plans and I totally agree with you on the cleaner - if it reduces your stress it's well worth paying for.

  • Hey that's great about FLM - if you get a chance, get over to the old running thread, it's going strong, and there's a few doing FLM, and quite a lot doing the Edinburgh marathon (me included ).
Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012.

  • RS - that's brilliant about Edinburgh, when is it? Finishing FLM was the best feeling I could ever imagine, will definately be emotional next year but really looking forward to it.

Sea - glad you agree on the cleaner business *phew* that confession out of the way.

Fairly productive afternoon, rung up Sky and cancelled Skysports :p and then said I might leave so got 2 months free :D, changed phone provider to save £8.00 a month. I then dared to ring up A&L, results of which were a 1.9% BT offer for 9 months and an increased limit so I can shift some of Egg over, which is a whopping stupid % at the moment, that immediately reduced my DFD for CC's by 7 months!!! Got about £4k on it still, but Mint will be putting offers on account at beginning of next month so should be able to shift it then. The interest I am paying on Egg will be equivalent to the BT fees so a massive saving by moving them.

Can't decide what to do, have two loans with NR, smallest is about £2,5k at 8.9% so highest interest, should I tackle that and pay min to CC's. Logically thinking, I think I need to attack one particular debt for the satisfaction of it going, and I can't imagine the better feeling than paying off a loan without consolidating! Think I've already convinced myself. The only reason I want to clear the CC is because I have the card shift that happens twice a year which really stresses me out, decisions, decisions.......................

On a good note, house boiling as fire on all day and DS had a good day at school.

Oh, and I am just plain jealous about the cleaner........it is still on my wish list! So you will get no chastisement from me for keeping her!
