Why just ministers? Why not everyone else in the congregation? You really do seem have to some kind of grudge against ministers...0

So why not rephrase it to say that *your* minister should take a 10% pay cut then?0 -
Congregations are no longer meant to pay for things like oil/electricity for their Minister - if they do the Minister must declare it as a "benefit in kind" and be taxed on it. A Minister must be able to justify the expenses he's claiming for - anything left over from his expenses allowance after everything has been accounted for is taxable - Treasurers also complete an expenses form for Inland Revenue which must match the one the Minister submits on his onw behalf so there is a double check!!
Don't take everything out on your Minister - you might have to ask him to do your funeral!!
By the way - has anyone asked their Church Treasurer if their own Church Committee was part of the "run"? Would like to see all those who were part of the run coming clean - the "run" was completely unnecessary!!:mad:0 -

It seems that we have hit a brick wall and no one seems to be positive. And the administrator is still getting paid big bucks. What exactly is he waiting on now ?
How long do the govt. need before they can say they can't help.
I consider that there are issues regarding the administration that should be addressed urgently.0 -

Is it understandable in the present dilema that we are looking for some target for our wrath.
Clergy of our Church preach on a Sunday. They also are available to visit the sick. A lot of other visiting is expected to be done by Elders.
I know some country ministers who are paid £40,000 per annum. Most have a month of annual holidays.
Other work in the congregation is done by volunteers,
Treasurers, FWO secretaries, leaders of youth organisations.
In my part of the country it is customary that after a marriage or a funeral
the minister is handed a white envelope.:j
Little wonder that in this recession that there are over 50 students for the ministry attending Union College.0 -
Anger and frustration is again evident on the Forum, We believed something was going to happen by the beginning of October and apparently it has not progressed, so we are again looking for someone to blame.
As I listen to what has been said recently on the media, I, am very encouraged that a resolution will happen soon. Comments that say the assets in the PMS are regaining their value supports previous comments that our money is there but not yet available as cash. I suspect that the government need to give their assurance that savers in the PMS will have the financial guarantee that other savers have, to encourage someone to take it on.
If I remember correctly a payout of the 'pot' that the PMS currently has could only be made if a vote is taken that would allow the savers with less than £20k to be included. Is that why the Administrator is waiting?
Without doubt the Administration is a drain of those funds, although he is relatively cheap as administrators go, these businesses and their staff don't usually regard the money they spend as their own. (I am glad that two of the original 'cheap' staff are still there). But he has to keep everything above board and have evidence that he did nothing illegal. That's administration for you - a necessary evil. For what it's worth I think he's done a good job so far, considering the legal restraints he works under.
The comments made about the dear soul who needed help and wouldn't accept it even from close family, that's the generation we are dealing with, fiercely independent and proud and that's why ministerial help would never have succeeded, how many folk have asked for help or if their situation was known, would accept help.
It has been mentioned that 'my minister told me to save with the PMS' that's what you call advice, you then take that on board and decide for yourself - it's your decision so don't blame your minister. Many people give me advice when I'm looking to purchase something, I don't buy anything based on that advice only.
When we put our tithe/gift on the offering plate it is not for the church it is for the Lord's work.
Everyone is welcome to their point of view but is should be noted that not all who post on this forum are shareholders in the PMS. I am, and I know some others have declared their position.
To those who are in dire straights, please make your need known to someone who can help and our thoughts and prayers are with you continually. I hope no one takes offence at my views - none is intended.0 -
:mad:I no longer intend to contribute to this forum or even to view it in light of the unreasonable things that are being said about our Ministers - enough said!!0

Nothing wrong with facing facts.
Church members support these 'men of the cloth' and their families.
Wonder if Paul visited PCI today how his Epistle would read.
By the way I know one lady who is borrowing on a credit card to put money on the Sunday offering plate.0
