Only my view but in practice it is highly probable that the remaining lay Directors relied almost entirely on these particular two because of their professional qualifications.

    I strongly disagree
There is no way that the blame for this mess can be laid at the door of just 2 Directors.
    ALL are culpable
ALL of them have questions to answer.
Every one of them has to explain their actions/inactions/decisions in the light of the false assurances given to the savers.

Also PCI has yet to come out and explain their enthusiastic endorsement of this flawed financial institution and their approval of the personnel now under investigation.

The church has to respond to this challenge to the integrity of these "experienced and respected laypersons". They have been silent for too long.

It's crunch time for the Directors at last.

    Long overdue!
Church sources claim there is a general investment fund worth £43m and an estimated £20m in other reserves. The church has other assets — a site in Lucan, near Dublin, is valued at between £4m and £6m." The Sunday TimesDecember 28, 2008 Liam Clarke

You have misinterpreted my post!! That is not what I am saying at all. I did not say that all Directors were not culpable!!
  • Does anyone know in N. Ireland who or what body has responsibility for overseeing the role of a barrister as a director of an Industrial and Provident Society that was allegedgly acting outside the law.
This whole matter could get very messy.

    Try this association
    http://www.barcouncil.org.uk/

They regulate the activities of barristers AFAIK

Well folks, it's time for me to give up on this Forum, sadly I cannot endorse the comments made recently. I firmly believe that 'everyone is entitled to an opinion' but the 'Guilty until Proven innocent - which they won't of course', attitude that permeates this Forum is just frankly, disgusting.

All of these comments are made based on............ nothing concrete, perceptions, what the paper says, and of course if it's in the papers it must be right and if it's on TV then it's even more right!

How many of the dissenters are PM shareholders?
How many of the dissenters have had positions within the church?
How many of the dissenters actually KNOW anything.

I have seen a few KKK uniforms at jumble sales, maybe we should buy them, round up a posse and let's go hang someone, that'll sort out our problems - won't it?

My church is made up of a lot of folk, some know the Lord personaly, some, sadly as yet do not. But they are there, under the ministry of His Holy Word. When I tithe to my church, that's where it goes for the preaching of His word, at home and abroad, should I hinder that work?

No one is perfect and we all make mistakes, I won't throw the first stone, because I am not guiltless, I fall on occasions and have a Blessed Redeemer who forgives me. Praise His Holy name.

Although I have asked some questions I will not be viewing for answers, unless some day I'm really happy and want to be depressed!

To those dear folk who are in such distress at this time, I believe and continue to pray that all will be resolved soon, very soon. I wish you the Lord's richest blessings for the future.

Have to say my main priority is to see my money returned to me - I don't think that hanging people out to dry will be of any advantage in achieving this.

    Any resolution on this issue?

Grrrandad is 100 percent correct. I share the priorty of wanting to see my savings back in full. Pointing blame is not going to achieve that and will get us nowhere. We need to focus on the here and now.

33 pelter - no resolution - it seems we live in the wrong part of the UK and wear our poppies with pride.
